A City’s Decision

With the help of some local explorers, the College of Engineers in Khardihr have obtained a piece of technology that can detect the location of sections of the downed ship given that they are large enough…

Game Master Notes

These notes exist to help you run through the Quest. They are put here by the creator and should give you some direction as to what they had in mind when they created the Quest

This Quest is part of the Revenge of Rondhol event. In order to influence the Council you’ll need to travel to the location you wish the city to travel to, retrieve news (or better yet artefacts and riches), and thus gain power within the chambers. The location with the most suggestions, or with the more influential backers, is the most likely next destination for the city.

- The Weaver -

Thanks to Gondrysdassnir’s help, the College of Engineers have managed to create the “Hopu Taonga” – a machine that can point to multiple sections of Seraphon-specific energy sources. As such, new locations have been put forth to the Council to consider, and deciding in which direction to go has become more complex than ever before. The following locations are currently being considered, and those that can bring word from these locations will be considered.

The Furyoth Dell

Melchad Hawkcaller, the Guildmaster of the Navigators Guild, is pushing for the city to go towards the Dell. He claims that because they know that portions of the Xarlanth landed there, it’s an obvious choice. Sorrah Nikos is also pushing for this move, in a complete change of her initial requests for the city to move to Civilia’s Ruin.

The Mountains of Maraz

On the other hand , the House of Vermillio is particularly interested in rumours of spirits in the Mountains of Maraz who were stirred up by the crashed ship and are interested in “recruiting” these errant spirits to aid in their schemes. They are willing to pay handsomely to aid adventurers for this. If successful, they claim this would help form a buffer zone between the Dell and the increasingly volatile conflict in the Svlind.

Interestingly, Gondrysdassnir was also able to travel with the Umberspire Inquisition (backed by the Vermillio family), which made its way into the Mountains of Maraz. This small group was able to find an ancient Temple of the Storm, and started to investigate the increase in gheists in the area, though they have yet to find survivors of any sort.

Other Locations

The city of Khardihr is a floating city, and as such is certainly capable of travelling to other locations, including Civilia’s Ruin, the Gaping Portal, or the Svlind – all of which have been suggested within the chambers.

Rewards

Sometimes a Quest creator will tell you what you get for completing the Quest, depending of the outcome of course. If there is nothing, you can obviously create your own rewards, ahhh… imagine the possibilities…

The location with the most suggestions, or with the more influential backers, is the most likely next destination for the city. If your location is chosen, you’ll be given a greater share in the resources and treasures found there. In addition, anyone that includes the Seraphon from the Xarlanth will get additional influence within the Council.

Have you played through this Quest or Rumour?

If you’ve played through or resolved this in any way, be sure to tell us right here on the Quest page, we’d love to know what happened!

The gheists of the Storm TempleWith the Temple secured, the Inquisition of Umberspire set out to reassess the Vermillios’ position in the region. Lord Carminnios fleet had won at Wavemeat, and obtained a powerful artillery piece during the conflict: a Seraphon celestite void-cannon, likely a piece of the crashed Temple ship. Truly a victory secured for House Vermillio, and discussions behind closed doors are happening on how best to put it to use.

Meanwhile, Castellan Malenkon of the Inquisition assembled an expedition party to explore the ruins of the Temple, led by himself and accompanied by none other than veteran monster hunter Belimir, recently returned from a quick visit back to the Hungering Steppe. No survivors had been found inside the Temple yet, and questions arose as to who sent the distress message. What wasn’t in question, however, was the amount of specters haunting the Temple’s vast catacombs: they emerged out from every wall and crypt, grabbing and maiming every unsuspecting victim.

Regardless of any living survivors, these ghosts would be worthy recruits to a new regiment. A binding ritual it would be, then. Preparations start, and ritual circles across the catacombs are drawn to bind these ghosts to the Inquisitions’ will.
However, Malenkon’s team was not the only one down there. It became very obvious that assassins had been hired to sabotage their plans, though to whom they owed their allegiance was not clear.

Not only did they had to content with the irritable specters, but now Malenkon’s team had to fend off these aelven assassins, who seemed to be very well informed of what the Inquisition was intending to do here.
They went straight for the binding circles, intent on disrupting them. And one by one, they take out the Inquisition’s expedition. A protracted guerilla war lasts for hours in those dark corridors.
At the very last moment, the Inquisition’s immortal guard was able to fend off the assassins for long enough to complete the ritual. Though suffering huge casualties, the Inquisition was able to weave a web of necromantic servitude, and now the gheists were under their control.
Yurek Malenkon and Belimir crawled away to safety, and once regrouping with the Inquisition’ s army, proceeded to interrogate these new captive gheists as to the history of the Temple.

The full exploits of the Inquisition under contract with the Vermillios can be found HERE.
