Like much of Chamon, the desolate valleys of Argetoria have fallen under the influence of the Changer of the Ways. But while some regions of the Realm of Metal have been mutated beyond recognition or set ablaze by gouts of multi- hued witchfire, the curse that has settled on this land is more subtle in nature – a product of the Whisper Engine that lies hidden amidst the wastes. Rolling banks of silver mist drift across Argetoria, shrouding its valleys and rust-barked forests in a chemical haze.

Those who wander in these mists for too long soon find their minds aflame with thoughts of ambition and primacy; even the most trusted allies will eventually turn on one another under the malign influence of Renius Lazarra’s cursed device. Indeed, some have even claimed that the Whisper Engine has become sentient over years of daemonic influence, that it delights in leading armies to the ancient ruins and shattered temples that lie scattered throughout Argetoria, only to see these competing forces battle amongst themselves. Many such crusading forces seek the Whisper Engine itself, either to end its menace or claim its power for their own. Yet somehow the device always seems to elude them, and more than one commander has gone mad eternally wandering the wastes with a head full of treacherous thoughts.
