Black Star Arena: Gladiators Wanted!

By order of Her Most Blessed Yellow Majesty, Queen Cassilda of Carcosa, Daemon Princess of Ambition Ascendant, the Black City has begun construction of a series of arenas, for the entertainment of all and to aid in production of foodstuffs and ritual items.

Therefore, She Who Wears The Mantle offers payment to those who would fight for honour, popularity, and glory in this burgeoning series of Carcosan arenas; may the Twin Suns bear witness to their victories.

Victors will be rewarded handsomely with the finest Carcosa has to offer, while those who are unfortunately not victorious will find fulfillment in the service of our demoniac masters. Apply at the Kelathran Spire.

Game Master Notes

These notes exist to help you run through the Quest. They are put here by the creator and should give you some direction as to what they had in mind when they created the Quest

Carcosa is a malign, evil place with a glimmer of intelligence (in addition to simply being run by crazy cultists and Slaaneshi daemons). Feel free to warp the arenas as necessary.

AOS can be played for the first mission, but Soulbound or Warcry are recommended for each other.

Allegiance to Slaanesh preferred but not required – just make sure the players are aware of the pitfalls…

- Paul B. -

The series of arenas shall be as follows:

Arena 1: The Clash. A free for all including entire squads or armies if necessary. Somehow, the Arena is always the correct size… This arena is barren, with only the wreckage of prior battles littering the dark hard-stone floor.

Arena 2: “Naval” Battle. Carcosa’s fog-lakes, Hali and Demhe, are the sites of these next few fights. A dense, supernatural fog covers theses lakebeds, and sight is very difficult indeed.

Arena 3: Duel of the Fates. The best champions from the previous fights go head to head here, if they survive. Executed as a traditional tournament, these can be conducted in teams or by single warriors – but beware, particularly malicious arena masters may make a single brave warrior fight an entire squad of his foes, should the loaner have earned their ire!

Arena 4: The Spoils. Indeed, the 4th Arena represents the rewards a victor may receive. These are always exactly what they were hoping for: material wealth, getting the girl, an artefact of great power, or even more besides. Still, these spoils are always tainted somehow by the dark powers of Carcosa, and should the influence of such spoils not be resisted, then Czumneth’s (and indeed Slaanesh’s) welcoming busom awaits…

Rewards

Sometimes a Quest creator will tell you what you get for completing the Quest, depending of the outcome of course. If there is nothing, you can obviously create your own rewards, ahhh… imagine the possibilities…

The reward can be anything – but should be something the player wants dearly. To get the girl, to find an artefact, to get a reward, to gain power and charisma, etc. However, Carcosa always corrupts, and whatever the player receives should be corrupt in some way, pulling them ever closer towards the hedonism, ambition, or other vices of Slaanesh.

Should a player or character overcome the temptation of the arena’s rewards, then they could either receive a “purified” version of what they sought, or a bonus to their willpower or equivalent stat (e.g. Bravery) to represent the fortitude and strength of mind that they possess.
