The Council of Khardihr

by: The Weaver
The Council of Khardhir is the preeminent power of Khardihr. This council frequently changes members as those that rise and fall in influence gain access, while unseating those that fall behind. Like everything in Ghur, you are both predator and prey within the Council.

At its creation, the council was made up of those influential in the creation of the city itself, but, over time, membership has changed so often that anyone who claims to be the true power or ruler of the city is usually scoffed at. Thankfully for the citizens of the city, there are a number of permanent seats reserved for the leadership of the Navigators Guild, the Enterprise Consortium, the College of Engineers and scions of the House of Vermillio.

The majority of the Council is made up of various explorers, commanders, and other leaders (like The House of Vermillio) that have all gained influence within the city due to their ability to find treasure, fuel, and other needed artefacts.

The Navigators Guild

The Navigators Guild does not decide where the city will go, that is voted and confirmed by the Council itself. Instead, it’s the Navigators guild that informs the Council what is actually possible, given prevailing weather and access to fuel. The Navigators Guild has its own operatives that provide information of locations and will often provide this information to the Council. Currently headed by Melchad Hawkcaller

The College of Engineers

The College of Engineers is primarily in charge of making sure the various systems keep the city aloft, as well as making sure it’s ports are kept in working order. The college currently seats Navra ven Alcassar on the Council, as she is current Headmistress.

The House of Vermillio

A few dignitaries of the Vermillios have lived in Khardihr since its inception, and their recent enthusiasm for further investment in the city’s current venture has granted them significant sway over much of the Council and the interest groups of the city. Several others of the family have since moved in.

Some khardihrans, however, speak of more and more guild leaders spending inordinate amounts of time attending the Vermillios’ soirees, and becoming more reclusive over the past year.
