Kemja was the blind seer-queen of a barbarian tribe. She saw better than most, for she could summon spirits to spy on the world, and her tribe grew mighty indeed (as such things are reckoned among petty barbarians). Yet all things die. Kemja suffered in the Underworlds for daring to use Nagash’s underlings in such manner. When the Necroquake began, she was let loose as a Guardian of Souls. Now she has joined Cesar Delarosa, and scries on his foes, but she ever seeks a way to escape Nagash and become a free spirit.
Middle of the road
‘Sigrid stood at the gates to the inner city, clutching her gun tightly as the people gathered around before the regiment. They all looked rabid and malnourished as they clutched makeshift weapons. They yelled things and threw objects at the gates. The crowd grew louder and larger, and they threw more stones and loose pipes. Until a gunshot sounded, and a man in front of her fell. The crowd roared, and she was swept up in a flood of bodies.’
