Nyxia, the Land of Stars

Nyxia, The Land of Stars

On the edge of Ulgu, beyond the dominion of Order or the grip of Chaos, lies a land of unparalleled natural beauty. In this realm of perpetual night, the mists have parted to reveal a sky full of stars. Astromancers, scholars, and seers gather in Nyxia to divine meaning from the eternal star fields above them. But recently, some of those distant celestial bodies have come far closer than expected.

Plummeting from the heavens, a comet has landed just north of the city of Portent. Magical energy spills from the crater, and many have been drawn to investigate the fallen star to harness its magic to their own ends.

Notable Locations:

Portent: The largest city in Nyxia, Portent is a place of learning and discovery for those interested in the stars. Ruled by the College Celestia, the city has remained isolated from the rest of the realm since before the Age of Chaos so that its people might better focus on the night sky. However, with the fall of the star, the college has begun to ask for outside aid in order to protect themselves from the strange magics of the star.

Starfall Crater: The site of where the star fell, the crater is brimming with unbound magical energy. The would-be prize of many treasure seekers, none have been able to uncover what the star is or what it might be able to do. One strange observation about the impact site is the sudden and explosive growth of new fungal life that rings the crater for miles.

The Cairn Forest: To the south of Portant, the Cairn Forest sits lifeless and undisturbed. Once the enclave of the Sylvaneth, much of the life has been stripped of the forest during the events of the necroquake.

Malerion’s Maw: A vast whirlpool, Malerion’s Maw makes ship travel impossible in that part of Nyxia.

The Broken Isles: Torn from the earth in a cataclysm before living memory, the Broken Isles drift just above the sea. No one knows what lives in those drifting islands, but rumors abound of the source of great magical power that keeps them aloft.

Dracothion’s Fang: Off the coast of Nyxia, the island of Dracothion’s Fang is home to a monastic order who worships the great godbeast.

Moonflower Grove: While most plant life struggles to flourish without the golden rays of the sun, moonflower grove proves to be the exception. Miles and miles of lunar plants surround the site of the great tree Lua, providing a beauty to match even the stars above.

The Starforge: A massive volcano, the Starforge’s light can be seen from the other side of Nyxia in Ulgu’s gloom. Home to a reclusive clan of duardin, the Starforge has been rumored to produce some of the most legendary weapons and works of art the realms have ever known.
