A New Way of Life in Latin-America

During the colonial era of Latin America spanning from the 16th to 19th century, Europeans, Native Americas, and Africans lived side by side. Their daily live was controlled by the royal government policy, religion and race. The colonial period was very religious, and festivals played a very large part in it. The average person would attend many festivals that were organized by the catholic church to honor a religious figure like Jesus, Mary or a saint. Life in the United states before independence from England was directly controlled by their parent government. There was hierarchy throughout the colonies in order to establish order and control. I believe this wasn´t different from colonial life in Latin America because they would also report to a king/government in Spain, and divided society into a hierarchy system. Street life was important to royal government because this is where latest news was delivered and where performances happened. These performances helped bring light to their hardships of life, and allow them to voice their opinions through the performances of the maromeros. Race and ethnicity played a large part in the daily life because it placed you in a specific part of the society hierarchy. Though later race and ethnicity didnt play much of a part later because it would fuse due to the mixture of races. The mixture of races upset the racial and social system because it introduced mulattoes and mezitos which would be a part of two parts of the social system instead of one.
