Rules:

Do not destroy without permission. Sergeant Tapper can be used as an observer in any situation involving Khardihr (and its people). If attacked, he carries an old, but oddly sharp sword, a bronze buckler, a battered handgun, and an ugly hat with white feathers marked with red, cream, and grey stripes (red and cream for the city, grey for Grey Company). He will freely converse with those he encounters, but does not speak for the city or for Grey Company unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Sergeant Tapper (not his real name – like many members of the Guard Companies of the City of Khardihr, he goes by a nickname given to him by other members of the Companies) recently became the Chronicler of Grey Company after the death of Lieutenant “Happy” Hollistan was killed while fighting off pirates.

Tapper – so-called due to his habit of drumming his fingers on any flat surface while thinking – thus has the dubious honor of being put in the thick of any major encounter Grey Company enters into, for the sole purpose of keeping a record of what happens to the members of Grey Company. Tall, dour, and constantly irritated, poor Sergeant Tapper is just trying to keep track of every happening to Grey Company while – and this is key, to him anyway – not dying.

As members of the Guard Companies of the City of Khardihr, Tapper and his fellows are in charge of keeping the peace, as well as dealing with enemy incursions, and carrying out orders dictated by the Council. This they do with a combination of steel, gunpowder, and determination. At the moment, Tapper is attached to the command of Lieutenant Duhanden, the slightly insane, flail-wielding sub-commander, who runs Grey Company’s Second Cohort.

While the other Guard members charge in with sword and pistol, Tapper keeps to the rear, armed with a battered handgun while he keeps a trained eye on whatever happens, be it battle, exploration, or retreat. One week they are fighting off pirates from the deck of Swan Song, one of Grey Company’s own ships, the next week they are wandering through the countryside, looking for chunks of a fallen ship. Who knows what they will encounter?

Middle of the road

‘Sigrid stood at the gates to the inner city, clutching her gun tightly as the people gathered around before the regiment. They all looked rabid and malnourished as they clutched makeshift weapons. They yelled things and threw objects at the gates. The crowd grew louder and larger, and they threw more stones and loose pipes. Until a gunshot sounded, and a man in front of her fell. The crowd roared, and she was swept up in a flood of bodies.’

Assault on the docks

in Barak-Gorog, the nobles fight to control the settlement atop the highest citadels of the inner city, on the skydocks, the skaven of Clan Rhukrit seek to destroy in and out going ships and cargo.
