The Eternal Killers

by: Le Thomas Bouric
"The axe falls! The skull flies! THE BLOOD FLOWS!"

Just when the inhabitants of Hysh had thought they could weather Ghorros’ rampage, the Eternal Killers arrived and murdered whatever flicking hope had started to grow. A warband of consummate killers, they rampage through the Realm with reckless abandon, slaughtering any they find without care or prejudice. How and why they came to the region is a mystery, rendered further opaque by the Eternal Killers’ disregard for these questions themselves.

As best as could be determined, they are not motivated by single-minded animosity of a foe, or even overmuch by mindless fury. They appear to believe that reality is nothing more than the axe-thin moments in battle of mutual slaughter, and all else is unworthy of consideration. Past and future hold little meaning to them. Only the present does, and they seek to fill it with as much battle as they can.

They are led by the might Lord of Khorne known as Skhafac by those few brave enough to invoke her name, and The Red Shadow by those who are not. Much like the rest of the Eternal Killers, her past is shrouded in mystery as she focuses on pursuing war. Whether she rose to lead them or formed them herself is unknown, perhaps even to the majority of the Eternal Killers. Wild, contradictory tales surround her legend, leaving those who attempt to study her with a niggling feeling that all of them must be false or all be the truth with no middle ground. She has so far not been granted the boon of daemonhood, despite her many wanton acts of butchery she has committed in Khorne’s name. Even that goal might be ephemeral to the leader of the Eternal Killers.

The one potential clue to Skhafac’s past is a pistol she keeps in her belt that she has never been seen firing. While it could simply be a trophy or looted weapon, some think that it might indicate that she had once belonged to the Cities of Sigmar before turning traitor, or perhaps been a general in the Dersaki armies. The pistol is too battered by time and brutal use to make out identifiable markings on it, and no one has lived long enough to study it. Why Skhafac keeps this memento is at this moment beyond the understanding of outside observers, with a good change that the answer might be utterly lost to mystery.
