Having spent more than a month in the tangled jungle and jagged cliffs of the Furyoth Dell, your journey has been confusing and fraught with unexpected challenges.
Many ancient and dangerous remains of the war from the Age of Chaos dot the valley, and the unstable realmgates still disgorge new enemies from elsewhere in the realms periodically, so few places are safe. Oh, and of course, the roaming monsters. Who could forget their delightful, tree stomping, predatory company?
The way has been winding, long, and often with few signs of the riches you have come here to seek.
But of late, this aimlessness has been replaced with a sense of purpose. There is something familiar about this place. As if half remembered from a dream, at first. Then, as the weeks passed, the dreams become more vivid, and you remember. There is a … purpose here. You have been summoned, by a force you don’t yet understand. Many have been called, in fact. Others, also in search of the same. There is power here, and only the select few will be allowed to share in it. You are not sure if it refers to the wreck of the Xarlanth or… something more ancient.
The dreams start to guide you, helping your team navigate the maze that is the Furyoth Dell. A bit of experimentation confirms that the knowledge is true now and again, and landmarks you witnessed only in your dreams lead to a path of safety, and prevent you from triggering traps and curses hidden in the ancient ruins. And to rewards held within them.
In the last few days, a sweet, melodic voice has become clearer and clearer in your dreams, urging you to prove yourself and finally follow it to its source.
And you will not be alone: others are following the path as well, and you will have to prove yourself against them.
You don’t know what is behind this, but it is clearly giving you an edge over other warbands in the Dell… and may prove to deliver even more rewards.
Do you follow the call?
If you are playing Warcry, there is a mini-campaign you can play, detailing the anointment of one of your fighters in service of the Whispering Patron, and the blessings they receive along their Path (Oath of Ascension, featured in White Dwarf 475).
