A Tributary of Tales

There is a saying amongst Thondians — ”they’ve supped from Rondhol’s waters” — a descriptor applied to the oldest, surliest warriors of their clans, whose violence and unpredictability remains undimmed into old age. It is an appropriate metaphor, for the continent of Rondhol is an ancient place, inundated with magic and fury. As Donse rose and fell, Rondhol watched from afar, patient and hungry.

Rondhol itself is as multifaceted as most other continents. While being well known for its unmappable raging rivers, flash floods, and massive mountains and cliffs, it possesses a wide range of biomes, flora, and fauna.

To the south of the continent lies Brinnock, which bridges Rondhol and Lendu. Northwest of this region is Civilia’s Ruin. Once, the outpost of Civilia flourished and provided valuable geographical information to the Free City that sponsored it, but, seemingly overnight was transformed into a waterlogged ruin shrouded by a fog. Since its fall, it’s unknown if any remain in the outpost or if they managed to escape the devastation intact.

The mythic Tuskvault, uncovered within the sprawling Rondhol Heartlands, found to the west of Civilia’s Ruin, lies buried beneath the rubble of a mountain. To the Tuskvault’s north, along the coast of the Bitingsea, a river system composed of innumerable streams tears away at the continent. Some trace their source to The Gaping Portal. Resembling the vast jaws of megalodon, this Realmgate spews forth a constant torrent of water in constant conflict with the oncoming current of the River Att. Where this water originates from is unknown, as The Gaping Portal connects to land-locked Bantu’s Gate in southern Gallet.

While The Gaping Portal is perhaps the largest and most well-known of the Realmgates in Rondhol, it is far from the only one. With the dawning of The Era of the Beast came massive shifts in Ghur as well as the emergence of strange phenomenon causing smaller Realmgates to reroute and others still to open or close temporarily. In the midst of these disturbances has risen a long-buried secret — Furyoth Dell. Only sparse details about the region have emerged with it, but it is known that it hasn’t been seen since The Age of Myth.

Shadowing Furyoth Dell are The Mountains of Maraz, formed in the Age of Myth, created by Sigmar’s hits during his twelve-day battle with Gorkamorka. To their east, in the northern reaches of the Bitingsea, lies The Svilnd, a collection of islands that form an elaborate trade network — one presently in the midst of conflict.

It is above this vast continent that our story begins. In the waning light of Hysh, those able to look up from their struggle for survival long enough have noted distinct strands of light in the sky. In the Aetheric Void above Rondhol, a Seraphon void ship battles a Tzeentchian Silver Tower. Though well-armed, the Seraphon void ship, The Xarlanth, proves unprepared against the Silver Tower’s ambush, but the battle has yet to reach its conclusion.

The lights in the night sky act as beacon for the mortals of the city of Khardihr — a City of Sigmar set upon a massive floating metalith. The city slowly moves north from its origin in Lendu, searching of plunder, profit, and fuel, drawn by the strange phenomena surrounding the newly revealed Furyoth Dell and its Realmgates. For the people of Khardihr, the treasures of the Dell’s ancient ruins appear just waiting for the city’s explorers.

As the optimistic explorers of Khardihr ready themselves for the treacherous descent into Rondhol, so too does the House of Vermillio, chief financiers of the city’s founding, gather its allies for explorations of its own. Cunning businessmen all, the Vermillio vampires see in Furyoth Dell not just the opportunity for greater wealth, but perhaps an opportunity to gain true and complete control of the city, as they believe they were always meant to have.

Beneath the floating metalith, however, not all are content to allow those of Khardihr to lay claim to everything in the Dell. Da Choppas, orruks clad in checkered blue, still roam Rondhol as part of their holy quest to destroy all vestiges of civilization in lands they believe to be theirs. As Khardihr descends, Ka-rokk, Wurrgog Shaman of Da Choppas, looks to the errant orruks left behind by Gordrakk’s failed attempt to claim the treasures of Tuskvault gathered near The Gaping Portal. Alongside their recently acquired Kruelboyz allies, Da Choppas prepare to take to Rondhol’s rivers, lashing together boats from precious scrap to race the mortals of Khardihr to the Dell.

As Da Choppas prepare their fleets for Rondhol’s rivers, Chaotic seafarers of The Svlind gather under the feared captain of the Bloodsunderer, Khrovar Blackmaw, in preparation for the arrival of The Dread Myriad, a deathly fleet led by their enigmatic Prime-Navigator, Lord Haddrik Carminnio. Tradesmen of the region tense, as the outcome of the oncoming conflict will dramatically reshape the region — likely for the worse.

Rondhol rumbles under the weight of armies massed upon its shores. Soon, the continent will have its fill.

The Sealed Mountain is a massive fortress built into the tallest spire of rock in a range of mountains that appear as monstrous teeth. Surrounded by a network of swamps and bogland, its isolation is part of its defenses. Only recently rediscovered by Sigmar’s forces...
