Broken Realms – Efengie

A smell of spring wafted through the air obscuring the reek of fly vomit and decomposing battlefield charnel. The season changed from The Reaping to The Burgeoning. Within hours, life returned to Efengie. Plants burst forth, trees grew in the blink of an eye, vines climbed the walls of your citadels and dragged down encampments, each bearing succulent lifegiving fruits.

As seasons change, so do fates, and the long-shuttered kingdoms of Efengie sprung forth with new life, and new schemes, and new wars. The young Slaan Cueyatl saw an opportunity. He used the full extent of his arcane prowess, with combined efforts from his skink priests, and reached out to the arcane consciousness of the new growth. It only took a little coaxing to awaken the new growth. The plants were agreeable, but often ambushed the foraging parties that stole the fruit from their branches to fill their empty pantries.
There was, however, something else stirring even deeper beneath the ground; something that had slumbered for a long, long time. It could be a powerful ally. Lord Cueyatl resolved to investigate further, namely by gathering a whole lot more of those magic fruits! With the help of his arcane skink assassin, Xipe Totec, Cueyatl put down the rebellious skink chieftain Kukulkan who challenged his acquisition.

The young Slaan munched one of the vine’s sweet fruits in contemplation. It seemed to hold more than just sustenance, perhaps some divine intellect. He secured a bounteous grove and began a ritual, consuming the fruits while murmuring and channelling the winds of magic. He felt its presence more strongly and knew its mind, the Godbeast Efengie, a world-tortoise slumbering for an eternity beneath this very vale.
