Fight for the Geysers

Nov 23, 2023

Tygon Panthera

In a different part of the Slidecrown Isle another scouting party from the Fangs of the Deep had come across an unusual phenomenon. They had of course heard the rumors that the island was home to vast quantities of Aqua Ghyranis, the diluted form of Ghyran’s realmstone. Just by itself it is a wondrous substance, capable of healing as well as purifying. As such it has become a currency all over the Mortal Realms. But what they found were geysers of the stuff, shooting from the ground amidst the ruins of an old settlement.

Kobothea, the Akhelian Noble who was commanding the party had just ordered her troops to examine the strange fountains of life-giving water when they were attacked. The roars of great beasts accompanied the whistling of massive bolts sailing through the air. Kobothea immediately ordered her force to rank up and meet the enemy.

The Idoneth Deepkin often found themselves attacked, even by those they should work together with. So that the reptilian Seraphon, among the most stalwart enemies of Chaos, charged them without much warning did not surprise Kobothea. Their ferocity was something she had rarely witnessed though. A pale, two-legged saurian monstrosity was among the Idoneth within moments. And although the beast was apparently blind, it did not let that fact stop it or even just slow it down. Her troops were able to bring the monster down, but only at significant cost. More of the reptilian beasts were coming, and even those equipped to carry large weapons looked to be more than capable without their armament.

So Kobothea opted for retreat. The saurian warriors did not make it easy though. Not matter how hard the Namati Thralls attacked, no matter how ferociously the Fangmora Eels and Allopexes tore into them, they kept coming with cold-blooded tenacity. The only saving grace was that they were not nearly as fast as the aelven warriors.

Kobothea herself remained as long as possible, and the final thing she did before she too turned to flee into the forests of Slidecrown Isle was to promise the Seraphon that this was not the last time they faced the Fangs of the Deep.
