Khvath Slaveborn

Khvath_comission

Born to the Serpent Tribes of Silaast in the Bloodwind Spoil, Khvath made his way as a mathematician and rationing expert before he and the other “clever snakes” were cast out and hunted for sport by the blood-mad overseers of the tribe. Eventually caught and sold in Carngrad, it swiftly became apparent that he was too useful to execute but too frail for hard labor. Placed in a role as a courier for the Gilded Eye financial district, his daily abuse planted seeds of rebellion in his mind.

With the aid of a potent cleric of the dark gods and his formidable collection of secret knowledge, he overthrew his former Talon overseer and saw his fortunes rise. He served as a mid-level administrator for the Gilded Eye and assumed responsibility to the district’s mercenary outreach.

One day, while counting the slave tallies against recent jobs he paid for, he found the cost of slaves was vastly exceeding the cost of mercenaries, who lived longer, were more loyal, and cost a fraction of the daily replacement of slaves. Proposing this controversial stance to his ally, Talon Tenebratha the Merciless, she proposed it to the Council of Talons and near-instantly began a gang war that nearly consumed the city whole. However, with Tenebrath’s support and the courage of his allies, eventually slavery was abolished and wage-based hiring instituted in the city. However, like all things in the city below the Varanspire’s shadow, the instituted reforms are constantly imperiled by the political maneuvering of newer, more dangerous Talons…

For his service in the Seven-Talon War, Talon Tenebratha granted Khvath the title of general and sent him to curry favor with the infamous Varanguard overlord Qarang Sarn. With his cunning plans, skilled organization of military assets, and diplomatic overtures along multiple Grand Alliance battlelines, he exited the war a Black Pilgrim even as his allies in Order failed to utilize his talents to assure the war’s total victory.

Sidelined in the desperate escape to Eightpoints, Khvath ended up in Chamon, in the blight-ruined city of Maker’s Run. Despite initial difficulties from the ruin’s violent culture, Khvath rose to prominence as master of the Waystone Arena Colosseum and financier of multiple enterprises out of his private club-fortress Veridia Deux.

From his current base in Maker’s Run, Khvath and his right-hand man Eli Neveroth have established several accessible strongholds throughout the Mortal Realms through which to conduct business. However, his return to Carngrad remains ever elusive, and rumor has it his Lady Tenebratha has dispatched couriers of her own to seek out the conniving serpent…

Rules:

Do not destroy without permission.

Khvath primarily functions as a patron of combat arenas, secret missions, and other dirty work that pleases his agenda of greater riches. However, he is more than willing to work with members of any Grand Alliance, as his search for profit vastly exceeds his loyalty along organizational lines.

In combat he is traditionally represented in the Slaves to Darkness army as a Sorcerer Lord or a Sorcerer Lord on Manticore (where applicable).
