Temperament
Athea takes pride in her skill and wisdom, first as a tide maiden, then as a guide of spectres. She comes across as dignified and assured, a scholar that knows of what they speak and expects others to listen.
This composed exterior hides a spitefulness, arrogance, and base cunning. She feels she is deserving of respect, and when it is not given, will strive to ensure that it is. Those who don’t see her talent feel her wrath, subtlety or overtly.
Despite her cursed fate, she is determined to show that she is just as skilled and powerful now as she ever was. For now at least, she does so in defence of Tira Gnok.
History
A gifted student at the Conservatory of Tides, Athea rose quickly and found herself amongst the fabled first fleet of Tira Gnok. Once there though, she found herself overshadowed by the High-Maiden, Osiden Thren.
Osiden was an elder of the Order of Tides, the most experienced and powerful practitioner still serving actively beyond the walls of the Conservatory. Her skill and years of service meant her voice was heard even in the halls of the royal palace.
For Athea, who had grown up as a near prodigy, finding herself in the shadow of another was untenable. She was convinced that it was politics and favouritism that kept Osiden above her.
When the fall of Tira Gnok came, Athea saw her chance to rise. As the First Fleet hesitated on what course to take she stood in opposition to Osiden’s call to help the city, instead advocating they flee, and promising that she could guide them to safety. The First Admiral agreed, and the protesting Osiden was cast from the bow of the flagship as Athea took the helm.
Her triumph was short-lived. Despite her skill, she could not save the fleet from the destruction that came for them, and all were consumed by the depths.
Awakened by a swell of necromantic energy within the depths, Athea found herself raised as a gheist, cursed to guide the lost souls of the first fleet just as she had in life. Forever bound to the waters that consumed her, and the city that she abandoned,
