Ride of Da Maw-Krusha
Atop the battlements of the Fortress of the Chalice an orruk in a colorful tabard paused in the middle of his patrol route. He squinted into the distance, trying to figure out what was distracting him. Something was…different. It was a bright day moments ago and things had gone all dark. Something was off. The orruk turned to the similarly attired human at his side.
“Oi, Henri, does someting seem off to ya?”
Henri was looking up at the sky.
“Something’s off alright, Mugb. We’re under attack, we’ve got to sound the alarm!”
Mugb grinned at the thought. The Fae enchantments he was under had not completely dulled his joy at the thought of a propa skrap. He looked up at the sky. Dark shapes were all but blocking the sun. They were hard to make out flying from the direction of Hysh as they were but they looked like….orruks? Being carried by some kind of beasts of the Dell? One particular blob in the center even seemed to be getting bigger, or was that closer?
“Oi, Hen-“ was all the orruk could get out before both he and his companion were crushed by the full weight of a Maw-Krusha rocketing into the battlement.
Urgoth laughed as his Maw-Krusha Bonecracka bit a Fae knight in half. Bonecracka crushed another under his feet, and a lash of his tail sent several Fae enchanted soldiers over the battlement. Urgoth had his fill of skulking around, defending points for Ka-Rokk and gathering troops after the River Att disaster. Fighting the Fae directly in a giant fortress atop a giant beast was more like it.
The Megaboss would have liked to get off of his Maw-Krusha and do some krumping but he needed to get a good look at things. He pulled up on the chains that passed for Bonecracka’s reins and the Krusha took to the sky, grabbing and dropping another knight over the battlements as he ascended. Urgoth surveyed the battle. His arguably less than orruky plan of flying in from the direction of Hysh had bought valuable seconds. A decent number of his Orruks had managed to be dropped right onto the battlements by Flappy’s kin, the batlike creatures Dethmuttera had charmed to transport their forces. However, as the Fae knights rallied to the defense and their archers started shooting back the creatures began to shy away, landing orruks outside the walls or even dropping them.
Down below he saw flashes of light as Dethmuttera blasted spells at the battlements while Kruelboy boltboys covered him. He seemed to be trying to break a hole through the wall but either wards or the strength of their stone was preventing it. Urgoth thought hard. Things looked good now but stood on a choppa’s edge. They needed a breach so that the orruks outside the wall could join with those fighting on it.
Urgoth smiled. Well, if they needed a breach he’d have to make one. He pulled Bonecracka up higher, readying to dive when a sickly blue light started emanating from his bosshat. A thin, raspy voice reverberated inside his head.
“Foolish. Forget them. They’re just a distraction.”
Urgoth scowled.
“Wat are yooz on about, hat?”
“The chalice, find it before the disciples of Tzeentch. Use it.”
The Megaboss shook his head.
“Wat, and abandon da fight and all me mates? Dat’s not any fun”
“Idiot! This isn’t about fun, it’s about power and the will to grasp it! Go to the Chalice!”
The bosshat’s glow brightened suddenly, spreading to Urgoth’s eyes. Urgoth roared, reaching up to remove his hat. His hand slowed as he reached up, as if fighting through molasses. Then the Megaboss redirected his fist in towards the side of his head. With a terrible crack his fist slammed into the side of his head. The blue glow in his eyes flickered and Bonecracka plummeted as his hold on the reins loosened. Urgoth punched himself a second and third time.
“Listen here, yoo. I keep ya around cuz yooz useful sometimes and all shiny to reflect me bossness. Remember I call da shots!”
There was no response but the blue glow faded along with the presence in his head. Urgoth pulled up on the reins. They’d lost some altitude but stopped a good few seconds way from being splatted. Bonecracka retained quite a bit of velocity from his free fall as he pulled up, and Urgoth couldn’t help but notice the section of wall Dethmuttera was blasting in vain was more or less ahead of him. A spot that had gained a few cracks from the shaman’s spells. Urgoth angled Bonecracka towards the wall, waving at Dethmutter as he passed. The shaman proved himself a quick thinker and Urgother felt himself buoyed by some spell of his, feeling like he could stomp the wall flat.
Urgoth smiled as the wall filled his sight.
“Time to make a hole!”
