The Empowering of Muhrd Greenhold

Muhrd Greedhold, the ghostly knight of shrouds and general at the Caverns of Fulminax had been getting reports that a disgusting army has been skittering around nearby.

“Skaven! It must be.” He told his second in charge, Droll Brightbane, their Guardian of Souls. Muhrd did not let it show how wonderful it felt to be near that ghostly flame of Droll’s lantern.

“They will undermine everything I am doing for the Undying King, Nagash. We have to crush them so Nagash will see my worth and make me a Mortarch.” Muhrd shook his head. “I’m still surprized Olynder was chosen instead of me”

After moments as if snapping out of a dream, Muhrd turns to the five Nighthaunt heroes beside him. “We need to go to the artefacts of power that is reported to our east. The Skaven must not get what is there. Take these phylacteries, each of you, and when we get there drain the artefacts of their power so we can use it later.” After Muhrd hands each of them a coppery transparent oversized vial he commanded them to muster an army ASAP so they can go secure that power. “Nagash will see my worth” Muhrd says to himself as an army gathers. In less than an hour, an army is behind him and he is heading off to the East. As Muhrd and his army arrive he is disgusted as the other side of the valley is alive with chittering Skaven.

“I see I was right” Muhrd sneers as the Skaven move forward toward the artefacts. “Move!” he Commands to his army, “Don’t let them have the power they desire! And stay away from those big rats. Their presence makes me uneasy.”

Muhrd and his Dolorous Guard of Hexwraiths move at a terrifying speed toward the artefact to the south and one of his Dreadknights starts draining the artefact of its power. The spirit torment, Drell, and Chainrasps appear out of the ground where the middle artefact is and begins to drain the middle artefact, completely surprising the Skaven. The artefact to the North is lost as the tiny hero behind the big rats are about to take it.

Kurdoss, the Valerian King, appears early in the battle and yells at the enemy somehow disrupting them, briefly robbing the enemy general of a moment of command. Then laughing when the Skaven general stares at him in annoyance. Kurdoss then looks at Muhrd with greedy hate and disappears. “He doesn’t like not being in charge”, Muhrd thinks aloud before crashing into the cowardly rats. Moments later Kurdoss is on the other side of the battlefield ready to charge the big rats or the general near them in a complete dismissal of Muhrd’s orders only to be annihilated by the big rat’s firepower. “That’s what you get for disobeying me, Kurdoss,” Muhrd says as he slashes another Skaven’s head clean off.

The battle is settled relatively early, but with many losses due to the firepower of those vile big rats and the Nighthaunt cavalry led by Muhrd. Nearly all of the rat army is defeated and most of the Nighthaunt. The power gained from the artifacts was felt by the Skaven, and they retreated. “Run-run! Now-now! Run-run” The Skaven General is heard saying over and over as they leave the battlefield. Later that evening as Muhrd makes plans to fortify the area with the help of the power taken from the artefacts, he says to himself, “Nagash will make me a Mortarch too and I will rule this Realm.”
