Crobus. The City of Fallen Monuments.
Once the cultural center of the Trench, built by the glorious Ivory Empire in the Beginning of the Age of Chaos. Its founder, a vain man with suspected Slaaneshi influences named Emperor Ulnorth The First had many statues to his Glory built in the city, but like the Ivory Empire, they all fell to time.
The Desraki restored some of the Statues when they arrived in Ghur, albeit in a more Khornate interpretation; however these statues, too, were mostly destroyed when the slaves revolted.
Situated so close to Old Kleah, the two cities had, in their long history, always been in a somewhat adversary relationship, to the point of being in open warfare with each other.
These days, Crobus was but a shadow of its former glory. Albeit garrisoned by Daemons, disciplined Desraki warriors and Tuskmen, this was not to last as soon as the message of Old Kleah’s fall to the Templars reached them.
The Destraki officers had tried hard, but there had been no chance to hold the Khornate Daemons back any longer at the prospect of bloodshed so close by, coupled with the lost pride of losing a city to the hated Tzeentchians.
Breaking down the gates, the Daemons marched through the desert to get their revenge, many of the Tuskmen saw the exodus as a sign of Khornes will, and followed the Daemons’ march.
This made them excellent targets for the Templars’ Slaaneshi allies. The forces of Leandros di Avi’aor and Lady Selancourte had been offered a great boon if they helped take Crobus, and their fast, mobile forces were excellently suited for a battle in the desert, using their better mobility and precision against the raging Khornate forces, running circles around them.
The Slaaneshi relished in the pleasure of taking the Khornates out from afar, upon their fast mounts they toyed with them, giving them an extremely unsatisfying death of 1000 cuts.
With the daemons gone, the defensive force of Crobus was in uproar. Cut off from any support or reinforcements because of the Templars’ victories in the field, morale plummeted, causing some tribals to abandon their cause, or turning to infighting.
Once the United army of Templars, freed slaves, Slaaneshi and summoned daemons stood at the gates, they knew they had lost.
Holy Flamers of Tzeentch descended upon the walls and burned the defenders to ash. Former slaves knew ways into the city, and showed the other attackers the way. Once they fought in the city streets, Templar Victory was inevitable.
Soon, nine times nine pyres if celebration burned within Crobus, City of Fallen Monuments.
