The Forges on Neolotl

Neolotl has begun to burn, and not because of all his forges...

Game Master Notes

These notes exist to help you run through the Quest. They are put here by the creator and should give you some direction as to what they had in mind when they created the Quest

This Quest has been made specifically for the Vurm-tai Campaign. If you intend to help resolve it, you’ll automatically be participating in the campaign. I highly recommend that you join our Discord server so you can work with others to accomplish the quest.

For this quest specifically, you’ll be fighting to take full control of the half of the city atop Neolotl, including the forges, weapon caches, and machinery. The forces of Destruction currently have the upper hand, but this fight is far from over.

- The Weaver -

With the worm now crossing between the Nasson and Neolotl, the warclans of Bristlewhakka have made their move on the city of Nassolotyl, striking at her walls and delving deep through Neolotls hidden passages to come up into the city. As many of the innocents of the city are being evacuated, all that can bear arms now stand in defence of the city.

Although Beliana is situated on Nasson, literally the width of a giant worm away and relatively safe from this incursion, much of the cities real workforce lives here; all her forges are situated here, all her Endrinworks, all her mining operations. If the city wants a prosperous future, she cannot lose this half of herself. Talks already abound by the citizens of the city, suggesting that they may choose to abandon this part of the city in order to re-invade when Nasson eventually crashes back into Neolotl, after the worm has moved on. Still, many suggest that if they do this Bristlewhakka will leave them nothing to rebuild.

Rewards

Sometimes a Quest creator will tell you what you get for completing the Quest, depending of the outcome of course. If there is nothing, you can obviously create your own rewards, ahhh… imagine the possibilities…

Whoever controls the forges atop Neolotl, or at least the majority of them, will have a major advantage over their enemies going forward in the form of weapons, machinery, and armour. You'd be absurd to expect that the other half of the city won't want to re-engage you once Nasson crashes against Neolotl next, but you'll have the upper hand most certainly.

Have you played through this Quest or Rumour?

If you’ve played through or resolved this in any way, be sure to tell us right here on the Quest page, we’d love to know what happened!

In a game of Warcry Xavian’s undead minions fight against several ogors marauding through the forge district. Using superior numbers, skeletons swamped one ogor until Xavian himself drained its life force. The Vargskyr went toe to toe with the Irongut, falling in the process but dealing wounds to weaken it. Xavian cleaned up once again, leaning only himself and a skeleton in the bloody streets. He kicked the blood from his blade and strode quickly into the church dwarfed beneath the great forges.

The plain was calm. None of the armies were moving..
The vampires decided to put the city under siege before launching the assault. They managed to destroy a building and starve some of the population. The Stormcast and their allies were too scared to make the first move. So they just decided to hold their position no matter what.

Finally, The army of death initiated the first attack. The legion of Night tried to surprise their opponent. Suddenly, hordes of zombies and skeletons emerged from the ground in front of the enemy lines, but the Order was well prepared. They managed to contain the attack as best as they can, losing some brave warriors but also slaughtering their enemies. Manfred took advantage of the general crowd to fly beyond the walls of the city and went to accomplish the mission for which he was designed.

The alliance of the Sigmar warriors and the Lizards began to weaken as the ground began to shake. Suddenly, the ground collapsed at two opposite points on the battlefield. a swarm of rats and orcs emerged from the holes – the Skavens and the Warclans. They smelled opportunities, taking advantage of the confusion of the battle. Unfortunately for them, it did not go as planned. After the last Stormcast warrior was wiped out by the undead army, the Seraphons managed to hold the rest of the enemies and destroyed most of them. The rest of the survivals have retreated and disappeared into the underground. Thanks to the sacrifice of the force of sigmar, the people from Nassolotyl managed to fly away in the vessels before the Chief of the warclan reached them. The Order succeeded in repelling the assault despite being the underdog.
But Manfred Van Carsten managed to reach the city while his forces were fighting. What was his purpose?..

For days Old Viggo and the Gargants of his Stomp had their way with the outer sections of Neolotl. With the city’s walls breached and its defenders largely mashed into a fine paste there was little to stop them, or the waves of Orruks, Ogors and Grots that followed them. But those with more than their own amusement and petty theft in mind looked at the bigger picture. And with the massive forges in this half of Nassolotyl that picture could look very good for the warclans. Messengers had been sent after the Gargants. Not that the brutes were hard to find, having carved an obvious passage of ruin through the city. But they were fast. And several such messengers were seen as an interruption and squashed similarly to those Humans, Aelves or Duradin who desperately tried to defend their homes. Eventually though it got through to the Tidebreaker that he was being asked for aid. And although Old Viggo was not quite in the mood, he had said that if there was a plan, he would do his best to help with it. So, after knocking a few heads together to stop the smaller Gargants complaining the Stomp made its way deeper into the city, towards the forges. However, those forges were not undefended.

Much like the Stormcast Eternals days before an army of Duardin had prepared to meet the Gargants. They were a force of Disposessed under the command of Snorri Docson. Normally they protected the great caravans that transported ores and other goods to Nassolotyl. But with the coming of the great wurm and the Dawnbringer Crusade emptying the city of much of its able-bodied men and women they had remained to defend the forges. Heavily armed and armored Ironbreakers and Hammerers stood in orderly ranks. Irondrakes, wielding powerful Drakeguns, stood behind them, ready to unleash volleys of deadly missiles against the attackers. Gyrobombers hovered above them and even a couple of ships leased from the Kharadron Overlords stood ready to ensure air superiority. Along with Snorri Docson the runesmith Flint Stonescribe and the cogsmith Grundi Geargrinder led the stout warriors. They had known that the Gargants were coming and prepared their defenses accordingly.

Old Viggo was unimpressed by what he saw. He had fought Duardin before and had little respect for them. What Gargant could respect something that small after all? So he deployed his usual tactic of driving his Stomp towards them with a shout that shattered the windows of nearby buildings. To be fair though, he would also have used that tactic against an enemy that he did respect.

The relentless brutality of the Gargants met the unbending stoicism of the Duardin. And the Disposessed did well. Even though the giant brutes hit their lines with what seemed to be the primal force of Ghur itself they did not give them a single inch for as long as they stood. Their gromril armor protected them and disciplined blows of their expertly crafted weapons brought down some of the Mancrusher Gargants. Yet, it only slowed the Stomp down temporarily. Even the might of the Longbeards, veteran warriors who had seen most of what Ghur could throw at them, gave way under the repeated blows of Old Viggo’s shipwrecka warclub. The Irondrake’s constant volleys took their toll as well, hurting even the Mega-Gargants. But even that could not stop them. And, much to the Duardins’ horror, even their flying machines were not safe from the Gargants’ wrath. They had to fly low to support the warriors on the ground, and a Gargant’s reach was long. Eventually even the mighty Arkanaut Frigate was brought down, smashed almost in half by Drabb’s mighty flail. And with the help of his wallopin’ tentacle Old Viggo himself snared the Grundstock Gunhauler, pulling the machine down until he could crush it in his grasp.

Seeing his army crumbling around him Snorri Docson decided on a desperate last stand, charging the group of Mancrushers that had laid waste to his Hammerers. The ancient warrior actually brought down one of the monsters with his mighty runehammer. But the remaining Gargant smashed the Duardin warlord repeatedly with his own club until what was left was barely recognizable. In the end only a single Gyrobomber managed to get away, trailing black smoke from its damaged engine. A Gyrobomber… and Grundi Geargrinder, who ducked into a cellar in the hope of escaping the Gargants’ notice while he swore oaths of bloody vengeance.
