Temperament

The Keeper is a mysterious figure, his face shrouded by hood and shadows.. None know of his life before taking up the mantle, or where he disappears to for long stretches of time.

Despite this secrecy, the keeper is a remarkably outspoken individual. He is always ready to speak his mind, often talking with a condescending or mocking tone, and his distinctive, nasally cackle of a laugh is well known throughout the halls of Tira Gnok.

He remains steadfastly loyal to his position, and so the throne and Elanor. Why, even she does not know. There is undoubtedly some connection between him and the city, despite the derision with which he views its current state.

History

The Lighthouse Keeper of Tiras Gnok is an ancient position of ceremony within the city. Those who take up the mantle discard their old names, as such it is difficult to say exactly when the current keeper came to be.

Traditionally the keepers led lives of semi-seclusion, spending most days within the lighthouse, only emerging to attend court or ceremonies. Their primary role was as shepard to the ships of Tira Gnok, though the knowledge they gleaned within the lighthouse made them important advisors to the city’s kings.

After the fall of the city, the Keeper took on a new, darker aspect, shepherding the fallen souls of the city. The origin of his necromantic powers, like so much else about him, is a mystery but his skill is not that of a novice.

Even with all that has transpired,, the Keeper continues in his original role, as advisor and scholar to the ruler of Tira Gnok. While the lighthouse itself lies in ruins, the has proven invaluable in crafting and maintaining the necromantic energies that sustain Tira Gnok.

In recent times he has taken on a diplomatic role of sorts, his knowledge of ancient lore allowing him to deal with some of the other denizens of Shyish and making him adept at locating troves of ancient knowledge. A particular interest to both Elanor and himself.

Khvath Slaveborn

A slave for the first 17 years of his life, this crafty serpent-man found favor and fortune as a courier and information broker in Carngrad. After successfully emancipating the city’s slaves (in favor of an exploitative profit system), he was chosen to lead the armies of Carngrad in the Prime Dominion War. Now he is a war hero and inter-realm crime lord on the Path to Glory.
