The Shifting Monolith

When the Furyoth Dell was swallowed by Rondhol during the Age of Chaos, many arcane weapons of war were at that time deployed all over the Realms, of a craftsmanship not seen since. To conquer Rondhol, Archaon had once let loose a floating monolith of corrupting power, an all-destroying structure that consumes souls and gifts the powers of Chaos to the survivors.

Now, this strange construction has broken through to the surface again, and stalks this ridge in search of violence and souls to corrupt, melting the land beneath it into streams of lava. But stories of powerful leaders harnessing the artefact, commanding it to go where they will, have come back through your scouts. If the Monolith can be somehow harnessed as a weapon, this construct could be one of the most destructive ones unleashed in centuries on a battlefield. Truly an asset.

Rules:

Do not destroy without permission
Soulbound Doom Level: 10

Warcry Twist Rules:

Shifting Monolith. At the start of the combat phase, players roll off. The winner can pick 1 enemy fighter more than 6″ away from from all other fighters, and roll a die. On a 6, that fighter is taken down. On a 1-5, their opponent can pick 1 enemy fighter in the same way, and roll a die. On a roll of 6 that fighter is taken down. On a 1-5 the sequence ends.

If a fighter was taken down in this manner, the swooping Monolith bestows the blessings of Chaos to those below. Roll for the blessings of chaos.

Blessings of Chaos

1, Nurgle’s Favour:  All fighters have their Toughness increased by 1.

2, Khorne’s Favour: All melee attacks (3″ range or less) gain +1 to their Strength.

3, Tzeentch’s Favour: All abilities gain +2 to their value.

4, Slaanesh’s Favour: All move characteristics are increased by 2.

5-6, Chaos Wrath:  All fighters immediately suffer d6 damage (roll separately for each).

Realm Rules:

(Rules based on Holy Havoc, Holy Wars, by Steve Herner)

Lava River: If a unit finishes a move of any kind on a terrain piece with this rule, for each model on the terrain piece it suffers 1 mortal wound.

Shifting Monolith: At the beginning of each player’s movement phase, that player must move the Shifting Monolith. Roll 3D6 and move the Shifting Monolith in any direction. If the Shifting Monolith ends its movement on terrain or a unit; move the Shifting Monolith to clear the unit or terrain. There must be an open space for the Monolith to land. If the Shifting Monolith moves to any board edge the opposing player finishes its movement, repeat this process till an open space is found. The Shifting Monolith will continue to move this way until it has an open space to land on the table. Each time a unit, friend and foe, is passed over by the Shifting Monolith, they take 1 mortal wound if the unit has only 1 model, d3 if they have 2-10 models, or d6 if they have 11+ models.

Blessings of Chaos: After the Shifting Monolith moves and all mortal wounds are applied, each player rolls a D6 and applies the results on the table below to all their units the Shifting Monolith passed over.

1, Nurgle’s Favour:  All units reroll hit rolls of 1.

2, Khorne’s Favour: All units are immune to battleshock.

3, Tzeentch’s Favour: All units reroll save rolls of 1.

4, Slaanesh’s Favour: All units re-roll wound rolls of 1.

5-6, Chaos Wrath:  All units suffer an additional D3+1 Mortal Wounds.

These Blessings of Chaos end after each Battle Round.

Archprophetess Sytarith the Intricate leads the expedition of the Templars of Our Burning Saviour to the Shifting Monolith, intending to use it as a weapon against the Seraphon – and the Fae, possibly.
