The Slidecrown Isle, located near the northern coasts of Thyria within the Sea of Elemental Truths, is a land shrouded in magic. Its historical significance dates back to the tumultuous Age of Chaos when Nurgle’s influence extended into the lush realm of Ghyran.

The island’s central feature is the enigmatic Viridian King’s crown, a relic of potent arcane energy. This crown played a pivotal role in a desperate spell during the Age of Chaos, saturating the island with a perpetual aura of magical power.

Currently, the Slidecrown Isle remains a contested territory, with various factions and forces drawn to its allure. They seek to harness the island’s unique resources and the potent energies emanating from the Viridian King’s crown.

Amidst this landscape of intrigue and conflict, the Slidecrown Isle has become a focal point for power struggles and battles, as rival armies vie for control, their ambitions fueled by the mysteries and enchantments that permeate the island. Its ultimate fate remains uncertain, but it stands as a beacon of opportunity and danger in the Mortal Realms.

The Twists of the Forests

Battles fought using this battlepack take place in the forests of the Slidecrown Isle. It is here that the forces of Nurgle battled the Kurnothi of the Viridian King, and the land still bears scars from those dark days. To represent this, at the start of each battle round after the first, if one player has fewer victory points than their opponent, they can roll on the table opposite and resolve the effect:

D6  Twist of the Forests
1 Toxic Miasma: A thick fog sweeps across the battlefield, carrying with it a withering curse bestowed upon the isle by Nurgle.

The player can pick up to D3 enemy units on the battlefield. Until the start of the next battle round, subtract 1 from save rolls for attacks that target those units.

2 Festering Bog: A band of unsuspecting warriors find themselves in a deadly patch of swampland.

Pick 1 enemy unit that is more than 3″ from all friendly units and cannot fly. That unit suffers D3 mortal wounds. In addition, until the start of the next battle round, halve that unit’s Move characteristic (rounding up).

3 Wind of Rust: A chill wind sweeps across the battlefield, causing weapons to erode and crumble to dust in a matter of seconds.

Pick 1 enemy unit. Until the start of the next battle round, the Rend characteristic of that unit’s melee weapons (excluding Mount weapons) is ‘-‘

4 Ironoak Skin: A band of warriors are momentarily blessed with skin of hardened ironoak.

Pick 1 friendly unit. Until the start of the next battle round, add 1 to save rolls for attacks that target that unit.

5 Inspired Command: These warriors are determined to secure victory even on the brink of defeat.

You gain D3 additional command points.

6 Healing Rains: Blessed rains of jade fall upon the battlefield, healing wounded warriors and imbuing them with uncanny vitality.

The player can pick up to D3 friendly units. For each unit picked, the player can choose either to heal up to D3 wounds allocated to that unit or for it to have a ward of 6+ until the start of the next battle round (the choice for each unit can be different).

More from Ghyran

Seize the Crown

The clouds that drew over the Slidecrown Isle were heavy with Ghyran’s grief. They shed crystal rain in great sheets over the lakes. The war for the isle had heralded nonstop combat for weeks. Bodies were slumped in the shallows, often cut down from behind even as they tried to heal their injuries with life-giving Aqua Ghyranis.

Cross the Water

The fires of war rage unendingly across the Slidecrown Isle. Those bent on scouring it clean topple ancient jadebarks and put resistance forces to the slaughter. Island denizens string up the bodies of their foes to feed the life-giving copses. Under cover of furious fighting, mercenaries dig through earth sodden with Aqua Ghyranis to find treasures of a civilisation long lost to time…
