Welquay

Around the hills and swamps of Welquay (or Deuvo Edessa) there had been a collection of tribes loyal to the Changer of Ways. This group was mostly nomadic, believing that investing in large scale institutions is against the God of Change, as it promotes stagnation. Welquay served as a meeting ground for the tribes, who would congregate time to time to present the “Raven-Marked”: Infants who possessed great mutations granted to them by Tzeenthch himself.

During the Soul Wars Welquay grew into a larger settlement out of necessity to fight back the Legions of Nagash. Its martial fortifications proved to be useful during the early stages of the Desraki Invasion, however as more and more Khornates emerged it looked as though its days were numbered. This was until the Blue Lions, the Tzeentch worshiping group of Edessans appeared and drove back the Desraki and reclaimed the Welquay hills. Though this hasn’t gone without problems, as the Blue Lion’s form of worship is drastically different than that of the Welquay. The Blue Lions would enforce their own cultural norms upon the Welquay, abolishing practices they thought to be overly “erratic” or barbarian. Among some of the Blue Lion soldiers Welquay took on a new name, Deuvo Edessa. Which is slang for “New Edessa” in some parts of the Great Parch.
