Temperament

Of what qualities Zalitheus may have possessed before, little is known, and even less remains. Once her personality and force of will was enough to enrapture entire settlements to her vision, but those days are long past.

Now she broods like a smouldering flame, face unreadable beneath her iron mask. She speaks little, her sentences curt, her voice distorted by her trauma and torture as much as the metal. Still, there is no mistaking her power, and her shadowed gaze is enough to make even the staunchest zealot take pause when it falls upon them. Simmering beneath it all, is an unquenchable rage fueled by failure and regret

History

Little is known of Zalitheus’ early life. Some believe she was an attendant at the church of Sigmar, others that she was a scholar entrusted with keeping ancient tomes of knowledge, or a noble daughter of Anorleic’s aristocracy. Among the slums of Yuewall there are even those that claim they knew her as a beggar on those very streets.

Whatever her origins, she was took her place in the history of the Lunar plains during the dark days of the Nightfall Months, when the light of Anorleic had dimmed, and beasts and undead ran rampant. Within the sage town of Izalorith, she laboured in experimentation and research to find deliverance from the strife. Her efforts drew many followers to her side, but despite her skill, she could create only a passing respite for the land around her.

Spurred by desperation, or ambition, she committed her gravest sin, and sought to recreate Wynthurven’s Sun. Though she came close, her ritual collapsed at its pinnacle and Izalorith was consumed in the flames of her failure. The inhabitants burnt to cinders or transformed to hideous demons of fire.

With the help of the Faithful Knights, Izalorith was cleansed, and the scarred body of Zalitheus found within the ruins. For her blasphemy she was chained, face shrouded in iron, and consigned to the lowest level of Yuewall’s dungeon.

But trying times lay ahead for Lunascenion, and despite her failure, great power yet remained in the Transgressor. As times grew darker, they turned to the light of her sickening flame. In exchange for brief respites from her imprisonment, she unleashed the fury of the unborn sun upon the enemies of the city.

Her every step beyond her imprisonment is taken under strict guard, but many fear that there will come a time when they will rue ever slackening her chains.

He tasted blood, and he spit it out. Beside him, Xshaeta’s head was hanging limp. Isthubar turned his neck towards the Blightking, hissing at him. With extreme effort, he staggered to his feet. An ugly, blubbering belly laugh greeted him as he once more faced the...

Stonefall, Three Days Out

Three days. That was how long Rittichik had been cowering in the hole he'd dug into the dirt under a pile of fallen tree trunks, waiting for the dust to settle enough to be able to get his bearings. Stale fear-musk filled his nostrils, the earth around him soaked with...
