Report to the Heresiarch: The Coin Lords

Heresiarch,

I have made no secret of my disappointment in the fighting abilities of the Chamoni warsmiths calling themselves the Coin Lords, and they continue to give me no reason to change my mind. They are well armed and armored, but possess little nimbleness or tactical flexibility, and this doctrinal lack has cost us dearly in arcane opportunity.

In our trek through the Slidecrown Isle, we discovered a wonderous maw of teeth erupt from the ground, its voice whispering sibilant secrets. Eekrek Not-A-Rat (must we keep calling him this stupid name? Your pet Skaven sorceror fools no one, my Lord) immediately began jotting down the maw’s whispers on every legible surface he could get his hands on. I must also note that Eekrek’s handwriting is atrocious and near illegible.

The Coin Lords where detailed to secure the maw and Eekrek’s messy piles of notes. As the expedition rested, we were ambushed by what seems to be a raiding party of ogors led by, of all things, a Fimir! They were babbling on about some sort of desecration, garbage, and refuse. They set up on the Coin Lords with a vengeance. Too slow to respond adequately, the Coin Lords attempted to secure Eekrek’s scrawlings, only to be overwhelmed by the ogor band. I will grudgingly admit being impressed by the Fimir commander’s adroitness, and with the strength by which he bodily lifted the Coin Lords’ own ogor breacher and threw him into the gnashing maw of teeth. The ogors set about burning Eekrek’s pile of notes, and with no further gain to be had, we retreated from the field.

Do not recruit these Coin Lords, Heresiarch. There are far more useful aspirants in the Heresiarch’s Synod.

In service to the Everchosen,
Hashrakul the Interfector
444th Goroan Reclaimers & the Heresiarch’s Synod

Strategoi,

The Coin Lords are fit for purpose, and Lord Andal already knows this. The tactical situation was simply a poor fit for their abilities as armored infantry. The Prevaricator is not blind to the fact that I am filtering the aspirants to his new dominion’s war host, which gives me what he may see as dangerously undue influence over his forces. He will overrule me and add the Coin Lords to his host. This is no matter. Andal forgets that while the Coin Lords are warriors and cultists, they are first and foremost, merchants and mercenaries. Should the Everchosen ever require that we move against Lord Andal, the Prevaricator will discover that the Coin Lords can be bought.
