The Great Weave is proud to participate in:

Tapestry of Fate

Tapestry is the only worldwide, multi-event, story that is set in the world of Age of Sigmar. A grandiose narrative, encompassing all of the Realms, and it’s set right here in the living story platform of The Great Weave. This is our equivalent of the massive story-arcs developed by GW, but designed by Event Organisers and Game Masters around the world, and developed across their specific events, which you can take part in.

The Mortal Realms are a dangerous place, and there’s always something going on, some new creature striving for glory, or wealth, or power. But something else seems to be stirring. Some new things are being felt on the winds of magic…

As the Cursed Skies continue to cause havoc on the war efforts, and as old gods clash with the new, dark eyes are being found staring out from the realmgates. The war on the Hungering Steppe is coming to a head as Excelsis takes a long-awaited breath, while rumours of all-out war increase near the Brimstein Heartlands.

Tales abound around the repercussions of the events at Nassollotyl, and realmgates are malfunctioning, re-routing, or being destroyed entirely. A new undead threat has been heard of at Har Kuron, as the salt-wind carries stories of a new force plaguing the shores of the realms, at odds with the ascendancy of Life.

Tall tales of entire Waaagh!s of Orruk and their ilk found wandering aimlessly, their eyes wide in shock, are eerily similar to stories of gheists floating listlessly around crypts, ignorant and uncaring of those alive around them.

Many individuals have now started to truly focus on a number of these changes, and in particular, the rise in unique events surrounding the ever-important realmgates. Someone is out there doing something to the gates, but to what end, only time will tell. Needless to say, the stories of eyes staring out of a dark void beyond the gates send shivers down the spines of Chaos worshippers and Sigmarite soldiers alike. Nightmares plague cities across the realms, but are they truly omens or premonitions? Or simply what would be expected in a world of war and strife?

The Story So Far…

Arcanum Optimar

The power of magic was enhanced by the Necroquake, giving rise to the new and voracious living spells. The peril of wielding magic increases through the realms

Ascension of a New God

Morathi, Shadow Queen of Ulgu, schemes and manipulates many, Sigmar included. Ultimately, she achieves her long-desired goal – ascension to true godhood as the avatar of the Bloody-Handed God, Khaine.

It is during this ascension that the city of Anvilgaurd falls, and Har-Kuron is born from its ashes.

To Shine Amongst the Darkness

As Nagash’s legions march, the Lumineth Realm-lords rally against them. Teclis takes to battle and lays low the God of Death

Cursed Skies

Be’lakor, the first Daemon Prince, has long schemed to rob the Stormcast Eternals of their immortality, and now unleashes his dark power upon them. Now, the skies above realmgates throughout the realms, particularly those in Chamon, swirl with daemonic energies, trapping the souls of dying Stormcast, and disabling their ability to return to Azyr to be reforged.

The Rise of Life

Alarielle enacts a great ritual, reawakening the Oak of Ages Past. This massive wave of life magic, which sours through Ghyran, and is extended through the spirit song and by the Warsong Revenants to the other realms, negates much of the death magic brought to the realms by the Necroquake.

Era of the Beast

As Excelsis is besieged, Kragnos, the End of Empires, awakens after millennia of imprisonment, and the forces of Destruction rally around him

Keys within the Flame

In the Brimstone Peninsula in Asqhy, a secret artefact was discovered… a Key that can change the connection of a Realmgate, so that it will connect directly to Azyr.

This artefact was recovered by Lord Jarek Dracothfoote’s forces, who holds a high position in Azyrian society and across the Free Cities.

The Realmgate Key was itself delivered to Sigmar’s keeping, but not without Dracothfoote sneaking a manufactured copy of it for himself. The unscrupulous Lord has unknowingly accepted the help of the Tzeenchtian sorcerer Octanheimer for this purpose, to experiment and test the power of this key.

The War of the Worm

After the great Kragnos trampled through the Amber Steppes of Ghur, he disrupted the creatures that called the area home, including the Great Worms that criss-crossed the land. One of these Worms veered off her traditional migration path and crossed the lands that lie between the grasslands and the symbiotic pair of god-beasts, Nasson and Neolotl. Since then,

The worm has now passed, the dust has settled, but the city of Nassollotyl will never be the same again. One of her chief enemies, Drekazra the Unbowed, has escaped into the wilds, his aims unknown…

Experimenting

Octenheimer has cloned a copy of the key for Dracothfoote but all is not as it seems. The clone key will divert a Realmgate to a new location, but causes strange effects to manifest themselves in the region. With each use, these effects become more dangerous. It has become clear that there will be explosive consequences for whoever is left holding the cloned key.

Things be stirring...

“Every night I have the same dream…”

Those around the Maklatan Desert are having the strangest of dreams, nightmares really, what could be causing it? Who could be behind it…?

A Dark Island

“Those beautiful, glorious eyes…”

A small realmgate hidden on the lake near Nassollotyl is just the latest gate to start malfunctioning. Except, this one seems different, is… is there something in there…?

Until it's too late...

“Soul cages hung around the room, some were empty, drained of the captured souls in the early experiments…”

Two well-known minds meet

“Greetings Octenheimer” a rasping voice replied, “What news?”

A very familiar face re-emerges from hiding, and a very unsettling alliance seems to be forming, but what does he need with Octenheimer? The future for the realms seems to be inching nearer to the knife’s edge with each of these secretive meetings in the dark.

A Glimpse of the Underneath

“The myffical underworlds. I’ve ‘eard of ’em at the great shaman gatverin’. Da realms are flat and if we walk on da top, den summin’ must walk on da bottom.”

Another Devolving Realmgate

The once stable realmgate, a trade route of the Bogswallow Marauders in the Hungering Steppe, has collapsed and the surrounding swamp has become a haunted land…

Eyes stare out of the darkness, and minds are going insane…

A New Predator Has Arrived

‘So, the stories are all true. There are hunters out there who are far superior than any of you lot. You may ask yourself, “why is ol’ Noshor telling us all of this?” The answer is simple. I want to meet these folks. I’m willing to pay for the pleasure. So, if any of you are able to bring their leader to the Outlife, you’ll never pay for a drink as long as you live.’

Salazar’s Nightmare

The Council Stares

Beliana Fauncrest now sits with her council, evidence, tales, rumours, and blood revolve around their minds as they try to piece together what has been going on in Nassollotyl and beyond. The situation looks dire, deadly, and far more widespread than any of them had anticipated…

Animosity Comes to a Head

Hidden at the very edge of the Realm of Light, the Prime Dominion was an unspoiled paradise, shielded from the ravages of Haixiah through the orbit of its own Black Sun, Noctis. Spared from the ravages of the Age of Chaos and ruled by an offshoot Lumineth empire named the Iscarneth Ceraphate, the Dominion was a lush and bountiful place, but ripe for the taking and on the brink of downfall.

Now, after a brutal civil war gutted its great Houses and nearly sealed the Dominion in the void of Noctis, the Ceraphate has settled for peace, and is currently ruled by Dariel of the Teclandec. Noctis is once more back in its orbit, and the great Ur-river realmgate that connects the Prime Dominion to Chamon and Ghur flows freely once more.

Dark deeds have been brought into the light! Octenheimer, with the help of Drekazra, has been working hard in the background, to what end, we still don’t know. What we do know, though, is that they have been corrupting and re-routing Realmgates throughout the realms, with some dire consequences indeed.

One, possibly unexpected, consequence is the revelation of the Fae, dark creatures that have been creeping through some of these corrupted gates. Originally from the Underplate, the upside-down worlds beneath those realms that can host such a world, the Fae are creatures of nightmares, able to transform their very being and prone to great violence.

These creatures have been integrating themselves into the Realms, taking up positions of power, but transformed as they are, the likelihood of figuring out if one is near before it’s too late is small indeed!

As rumours spread, and news makes its way into the various alliances throughout the Mortal Realms, underlings, commoners, and the often-oppressed are all eying their leaders with a renewed sense of suspicion. Anyone in places of influence could already be dead, and replaced by a Fae, changing plans to advance their own hidden goals…

They Are Coming

From the Underneath, into your nightmares. They have arrived. It’s time to panic.

Aldeena Woke Screaming

It took two more minutes for the low growling to be audible, and the sound of a tiny branch cracking. Slowly, she could now feel the faint vibration of a large predator’s paws across the ground, the sound of crunching the underground very low and slow. She could hear it sniffing the air now, brushing against the tree’s bark outside.

The Vision

Within the dreamscape, she crept through an empty and ancient cathedral, led by her royal father and his trusted warriors and tacticians. She’d had this dream numerous times before, and yet… this was different somehow…

Jawrippa's Tale

Ironjawz megaboss Jawrippa is promised a great destiny by a mysterious weirdnob shaman who seeks him out. Following this stranger’s prophetic words, will Jawrippa find a fate worthy of his name, or is something else going on?

The Maklatan Project

The fate of the Brimstein Heartlands are being decided! Can Dracothfoote maintain his grip on the key? Will Olrog conquer more territory? War has begun, and armies march throughout the Heartlands as the fate of the region hangs in the balance!

The Fell Dragon Rises

War rises in the forgotten underworld of Drakengrad, graveyard of draconic godbeasts.

Cultists rise around the land, seeking amberstone from The Hungering Steppe to raise their dread patron—The Fell Dragon. The forces of the Free City of Drakheim within Drakengrad mount to stop their scheme, but within their midst, a dark force has come to threaten all the land…

Animosity IV

Animosity hits off within their “bleeding through” area

The Story so Far…

War has been raging in the Brimstein Heartlands of Aqshy, around Drakengrad in Shyish, as well as throughout the Realm of Beasts. The repercussions of the existence of a new super-weapon in Aqshy is now known, and the presence of The Fae has been more far-reaching than initially imagined, tales of their influence have started to be told in Free CIties Realms-wide.

The most recent war within the Brimstein Heartlands remains the epicenter of this conflict, as Octenheimer in particular was instrumental in the creation of the Clone Keys, artifacts capable of diverting and changing Realmgates. It came to light that three working keys were eventually created. One exploded, destroying an absolutely massive section of the land around, resulting in possibly one of the largest explosions the Realms have ever seen.

A second clone key was swallowed by a ghorgon that went by the name of Scrotal Slug. It did not go well, as the ghorgon was possessed, and then transformed into a new Lord of Change.

The third clone key was used by Dracothfoote, and he died in the Realm of Chaos while closing the Pentarage rift that had connected the Realm of Chaos to The Brimstein Heartlands.

Unfortunately the results of Octenheimer’s experiments did not die there in the Heartlands as the three keys perished. The duardin of Gloomsforge held a clone key long enough to study it and make their own copy. It is known that they apparently created this one without any flaws as they spotted the chaotic error in the key and excluded it in their own copy. That same key, and the knowledge of how to make more, now exists in the Mortal Realms – a key that can reroute or close realmgates, a key that can explode entire cities.

But the repercussions of the battle in the Brimstein Heartlands had also more urgent consequences. The exploded key not only changed the shape of the peninsula, but awoke the beast that had been sleeping in the depths of the Vitriol Sea – the Charonhydra, ancient scourge of Aspiria. Many lives had been lost in previous years, putting that colossal monster down since its escape from a Stormvault. Now, after years of Idoneth siphoning souls out of its gullet, it was finally stirring again. Too soon.

All this to say nothing of the Fae that have now entered the Realms. The research that went into these Keys seems to have been the cause for those realmgates that re-routed to the Underplate; releasing the Fae into the Realms.  Ghur in particular have found many such incursions, one far-ranging manipulative plot, years in the making, has seen warbands and champions drawn from all across the realms to bleed and fight in the lost valley of the Furyoth Dell in Rhondol. The Fae want them there, but for what, nobody can tell.

Additionally, Drakengrad came very close to destruction, in part due to the influence of the Fae – a Fae individual that is still free in the Realms.

And these are only the tales that have been told, who knows what else the Fae are doing out there in the wilds of the Realms where Octenheimer may have tread? How will the Realms respond to a weapon of this scale now being available? The Rite of Life is still being felt. A new Lord of Change has been born, Incarnates rampage throughout the Realms, the Charonhydra re-emerges from the depths, Drekazra remains on the loose, and untold amounts of corrupted realmgates litter the Mortal Realms – a world that is now more deadly than ever.

Expected Questions

Is this an event or campaign?

Tapestry of Fate is not a campaign, nor an event. It is a set of grandiose stories that event organizers and game masters are all collaborating together on to tell through their respective events and campaigns.

In each of these events, there will be easter eggs and clues to the grand plot that will be revealed through the Tapestry of Fate. Can you figure out what’s happening?

How can I interact with or participate in Tapestry?

You automatically participate in Tapestry by joining and playing in any of the events or campaigns that are advertised as Tapestry Events, and your actions during the event can affect the story of the Tapestry.

You’ll find a list of all Tapestry-participating events below.

In addition, there may be Quests that you can participate in outside of the organised events. These have not been released as of yet, but when they are, you’ll be able to participate by posting submissions on The Great Weave of your hobby, games or original writing on the relevant Quest page.

It’s good to note that you are able to ‘interact’ with Tapestry in essentially the same way you interact with the existing Age of Sigmar canon. You can include Tapestry locations and characters in your games, create personal lore that involves itself, or stems from, the narratives being told, develop hobby creations that reflect the story in different ways, the list goes on. Additionally, Tapestry will also result in some fairly unique changes to the Realms which you may want to get in on, in-game this has the possibility of including specific table rules (similar to Realm rules), bespoke character warscrolls, and entire faction additions.

How does Tapestry relate to The Great Weave?

So, many players currently use TGW as a sort of repository for their narrative content. This is absolutely amazing. But it is important to remember that it’s a repository of content that all exists in the same “space”, the same world. If we were playing an MMORPG, this would be a single server of the game that we all share. All of this is driven by individual players.

While this is cool (we’re obviously biased), clearly most people like to keep their actions fairly “local” and thus the repercussions don’t spill over to players they don’t know. This is a good thing 90% of the time, as people don’t usually want the city they’ve just made raised to the ground by an army created by someone they don’t know. This is also why creations have “rules” available.

Step in Tapestry of Fate.

Tapestry is essentially all of the above, but taken further. The repercussions of Tapestry will change how people interact with TGW, it has the possibility to change the on-table experience, as the stories it tells will be as far-reaching as things like the Cursed Skies, or the Necroquake. Because of this, we’re moving this particular storytelling push from absolutely everyone to the events themselves. In part, we’ve done this as players already expect events to change their on-table experience, and it also decreases the “cooks in the kitchen” as it were when it comes to storytelling on a massive scale.

Tapestry then becomes, essentially, the spirit of TGW taken to the extreme, it’s all the collaborators and events taking the idea of a shared world reasonably seriously, allowing other events and campaigns to affect their own, and helping realise stories that will change the realms.

Is it possible for my Character to "change" the story of Tapestry?

Yes! Every time you play at a Tapestry Event (or Quest) you’ll have opportunities to make your own impact on the Tapestry story.

That said, the Narrative Event Organisers (or NEOs for short), within their respective events, will make sure you don’t do something that could be destructive to another event, so each event or campaign, although connected to Tapestry, is still relatively self-contained. Some will be more enmeshed with the story of Tapestry, some less. Ask your NEO about it!

Who's involved?

Currently, our public list of involved events and campaigns are (in alphabetical order):

Where can I read the unfolding story?

You’re on the right page! Above you’ll find the grand narrative as it stands, with links to each specific story if you’d like to read the amazing details given by our writers.

Who are the main characters?

Each event or campaign is going to have their own host of main characters, related to their story. But, if and when they become very relevant to the Tapestry we’ll add them to this page below when appropriate.

Where can I go to discuss the story with others and share my crazy theories?

We would absolutely love to hear what you think will happen next!

The best place is probably in the Discord server for The Great Weave, but we highly encourage rumours and ideas in the events themselves (or their servers/socials), as well as out there in social media land. Feel free to use the hashtag #Tapestry or #TheGreatWeave
