The Gaping Portal is an ancient realmgate to Gallet hewn into the shape of a massive maw of a terrifying sea creature.
In central Rondhol lies the Gaping Portal. Resembling some vast megalodon’s jaws, it spews forth a constant torrent of water that crashes against the oncoming current of the River Att. Where this water originates from is unknown, for the Portal connects to land-locked Bantu’s Gate in southern Gallet. However, this connection ensures that the Portal is a site of prime strategic value, especially to the Stormcasts who seek ways to unite with their brethren fighting in the main body of the Ghurish heartlands.
But to reach the realmgate, one must brave the bone-crushing rapids, which are even more violent here than elsewhere in Rondhol. When Gordrakk and Skragrott’s hordes passed through the gate on the march to Excelsis, a handful of orruk clans broke off around the Gaping Portal, enamoured by its exhilarating perils. Mounted on crude rafts of bone, they gleefully race along the rapids and between clusters of jagged rocks, preying on any force bound for the realmgate. This group has since coalesced with Da Choppas after a massive fight that brought the revelers into line – though they do still race about the area.
