The Hanging Woods

In the Hellscorn war, it was a common practice of the Templars of Our Burning Saviour to hang followers of Khorne and others suspected of collaboration with the Desraki.

This way it could be assured that their deaths would be mostly bloodless, a grave offense against the Faithful of Khorne and an effective terror tactic.

Nowhere has this practice left deeper scars though as in the Brazenbind forest, now only known as the Hanging Woods.

Located in the swamplands in the very southeast of the Templars’ crusader state, it was the site of a great massacre of Tuskmen refugees, among them many civilians.

They were all hanged upon gangly trees growing from the swampy ground, their rage and despair useless in the face of their golden-armoured executioners.

Many of them swore vengeance with their dying breaths, and indeed, the great agony, wrath and affront suffered changed the very lands as they expired.

The souls of those Khornates executed never found their way into the afterlives, and continue to haunt the woods and its vicinity looking for revenge and the bloody deaths noone can grant them any more.
