Trouble on the Att

The battle at the Gaping Portal as swept upstream as the violence sweeps across the continent, drawing more and more into the fray.

Game Master Notes

These notes exist to help you run through the Quest. They are put here by the creator and should give you some direction as to what they had in mind when they created the Quest

This Quest is part of the Revenge of Rondhol event, and has evolved since its creation (the initial Quest being a fight over the Gate itself). Be sure to check out the Gaping Portal location or the River Att location for suggestions for bespoke rules for playing here! This isn’t a complex Quest, you’ll be fighting for control over the section of the river that flows from the Furyth Dell, and the rivers nearest to it. Be sure to make it clear who you’re fighting for, who you faced off against in your game(s), and what the result of the game(s) were.

- The Weaver -

The battle for the The Gaping Portal has moved on, with the local sylvaneth taking control over the Gate itself. Although Blackmaw’s marauders made some initial gains, it was not to remain that way as the sylvaneth tore into them, overcoming at any ground that was taken and pushing the followers of the dark gods back. The fighting as now been pushed upstream, up against the outer edges of Furyoth Dell.

Ka-rokk has informed his Choppas that they need to hold their enemies here on the river, and destroy them entirely if possible. He claims that Wyrdsquig says that they cannot enter the Furyoth Dell in force, for if they do they will surely perish.

In addition, seraphon from the Xarlanth have also been seen entering the fray, attacking all that come near to them, regardless of to whom they owe allegiance.

Rewards

Sometimes a Quest creator will tell you what you get for completing the Quest, depending of the outcome of course. If there is nothing, you can obviously create your own rewards, ahhh… imagine the possibilities…

You’re fighting over control of this section of the river, and so depending on your faction, your reward will be different. Khardhir (including the Vermillios family) isn’t keen to lose this strategic space, but ultimately still have less “boots on the ground”. Da Choppas already have full control over the gate and it’s immediate rivers, but and those under Blackmaw are looking to change that, preferring to drive the orruks away using any means necessary. Winning your games will get you that much closer to controlling the area. In addition, anyone that includes the Seraphon from the Xarlanth will get additional influence.

Have you played through this Quest or Rumour?

If you’ve played through or resolved this in any way, be sure to tell us right here on the Quest page, we’d love to know what happened!

I’ve done a written report for this quest, which can be found here: https://thegreatweave.com/briars-in-the-rapids/

The faction I’m fighting for is Da Choppas.

Razgor Beastbreaka sets in motion a plan to take full control of the river Att for Da Choppas. He plans to let the Blackmaw reavers further into the orruk territory, before blocking their escape and closing the trap on the reavers. To do this, the orruk procures Skaven “ship” to form a blockade that can close off the river.

Dedicated to Da Choppas
Feel free to write a story about the ambush itself, mentioning the ships blocking the river.

Beginning

Dughoz the Warchanter waited patiently for the signal. That Kruleboy Boss Razgor was a clever one, planning this ambush on the spiky boyz. Once the river was blocked, they’d be trapped between a Waaagh and an ‘ard place. Dughoz just wish he had some tougher boyz to lead. These ardboyz were alright in a fight, but a Brute or two would be betta. Guess it figures they’d fight with Urgoth himself.

Suddenly Dughoz heard a mighty “Waaaaghhh!!”. He turned to his ardboyz.”Alright boyz, that’s the Boss, and that means the rivers blocked, let’s get these spiky boyz!”.

Aftermath

Dughoz eyed the Blood Warrior warily. He hadn’t expected this one with the extra big choppa to hide behind his now dead mate. Usually these blood obsessed spiky boyz weren’t so kunnin. Dughoz had taken some nasty hits when the Blood Warrior jumed over his friend’s corpse and sliced into him with that big choppa. Dughoz’s vision was fading, and he raised his morkstikk and gorkstikk, figuring it’s best to go out with a war, when a giant bolt winged the Blood Warrior in the arm. The Warrior roared in rage, as more bolts flew from the forest.

Dughoz looked at his fallen ladz, seeing a few still moving. Grabbing one up by the arm, he yelled out “Come on boyz, Razgor’s boyz came through. Let them deal with the spiky boyz and lets…”

Dughoz fell to the ground, goreglaive sticking out of his back. The enraged Blood Warrior had thrown his weapon with enough force to tear through Dughoz’s armor. A mortal blow for most creatures in the realm, and a debilitating one for an Ironjaw. The ardboy he picked up took one look at he crazed Blood Warrior and yelled “Leg it!” before running off into the woods.

Warcry game: Dughoz and his Ardboyz Vs Blades of Khorne:Bloodbound. Near mutual destruction with one Blood Warrior standing. Match to Bloodbound.
I was playing the Ironjawz team for Da Choppas.

Yep! First game ever. Thanks, it was fun and nice to roleplay with Bevan in the discord. We were a little creative with game number two reported today and made it a bit of a rescue mission.

I loved to see you interact with the story and I hope you enjoyed your first game of warcry!

The steel Fangs push deeper into the orruk territory with several quick battles before being ambushed by a big waagh and forced the bloodhound host back by the savage tactics of orruk megaboss on maw krusha the where they will plan a counter-attack for later that week and heal any wounds

Blades of khorne vs orruk war clans major lose for the Blades of khorne

Here’s another written report in support of Da Choppas: Briars on the Banks: The Great Weave

I noticed that Zim used a warchanter in their warcry game, so decided that a few of my sylvaneth happened to be nearby when that went down (though too far away to help), since following around a warchanter is definitely something they would do.

Then after seeing the recent update about the seraphon who survived the Xarlanth’s fall, I added in an encounter with some of them too.

Gotta say, it’s really cool to see the stories intersecting like this. Really cool take on the Sylvaneth!

*Slightly up the river from Dughoz’s group*

Urgoth Skullsmasha and his brutes was starting to enjoy this ambush. He and his brutes had all the spiky boys they could fight, and since they were trapped in this section of the river, they’d have to fight their way out if they decided to leg it. Not that many of the spikies had tried to run yet, especially da angry ones. Choppa in hand, brutes at his side, all the spikies he could fight. Urgoth was in a good mood. At least, until he saw the ardboy run past him. Urgoth frowned and squinted at nother shape running towards him from the distance. Another ardboy. This one he grabbed before it could get by.

“What’s this all about?” He all but roared in the ardboy’s face.

“Dey got Dughoz, boss!” The ard boy briefly tried to squirm out of his boss’s grip before slumping in defeat.

“Who got im?” Urgoth was looking angrier and angrier, and started shaking the ardboy.

“Dese red spiky boys. One with a giant choppa took out ‘alf our boys, den took out Dughoz. We was having a tough fight of it. Den Razgor’s boys started shooting. We was gonna fall back when Dughoz got hit with a huge choppa from behind”. The ard boy looked down at the admission that they were going to let the boltboys finish the fight.

Urgoth gave the ard boy a look like he was gonna crush him into paste. “Dughoz should know betta than to show his back to a spiky boy.” Suddenly he sighed, setting the ardboy down but not letting go of him. “Well, guess I’ll have to go save im, assuming he’s alive. It’s bad for the group if the warchanter goes missing. Ironjawz take some killin’ so we got a good chance. You brutes continue the fight here. You…” He stares at the ardboy before shoving him roughly back in the direction he had run from. “Are coming with me, and gonna help nab Dughoz back”.

Aftermath:

Dughoz felt a jolt of pain in his head. As he opened his eyes he noticed he was moving. More than that. He was being dragged by one of the ardboys he had been leading. Hearing a mighty roar, he turns his head to see what made it. A giant Orruk was holding the head of dat big choppa spiky boy that got Dughoz earlier.

“Is that da boss?”

Summary:
Warcry game. Custom scenario. Urgoth enters the fray this time and his forces have to reach Dughoz in the middle of the board, pick him up (we used the treasure rules), and take him to the edge of the map by the end of turn 4. Opposing Bloodbound force could win by stopping this or taking out all Orruk forces.

Victory to Ironjawz (although just as much of a bloodbath as the last one). I was fighting for Da Choppas in Razgor’s ambush. Urgoth might not have to look for a new warchanter, after all.

Thanks! It’s been fun having some context for the games. I hope Urgoth has done his part to help Razgor’s plan and raise his Waaagh standing.

Razgor dispatches Big ‘un to attack the Reavers during the ambush. The giant troggoth emerges from the water, breaking the boat and slamming into the skaven crew. They take quick care of the skaven deathmaster leading the crew and with reinforcements quickly following their leader, the Skaven route quickly. Da Realmhuntaz take a dominant victory, but a small one in the grander battle taking place.

(Game against Skaven, just a simple kill as many as possible game. Mirebreat gets teleported into the enemy backline thanks to supa sneaky and some bad deployment from the skaven player. Big ‘un fights the deathmaster and completely destroys it. Boltboyz and beastskewer killbow take care of the bell before turn 1 is even over, severely handicapping the skaven before they even get a turn. Stormvermin fightback against the troggoth, but finest hour and all out defence saves their skin. Big ‘un punches back, killing most. Gutrippaz outduel the clanrats and once morale phase comes around voth units flee. Skaven player decides to forfeit, giving the game over before battleround 2. A combination of a lot of luck and a good teleport gives a very decisive victory to the Kruleboyz of Da Realmhuntaz and for the Ironjawz of Da Choppas)

Sounds like a successful ambush. Good on the Realmhuntaz!
