A Portal’s Pull

Warbands that found themselves battling high on the River Att have been decimated. Those that survived need to re-group, fighting off the jungles that lay beside the river. Some will make their way upstream towards the Furyoth Dell, while others, hearing that the Gaping Portal is soon to be attacked, decide to defend what’s already theirs.

Game Master Notes

These notes exist to help you run through the Quest. They are put here by the creator and should give you some direction as to what they had in mind when they created the Quest

This Quest is part of the Revenge of Rondhol event, and has evolved since its creation (the initial Quest being a fight over the Gate and then the River Att). Be sure to check out the Gaping Portal location or the River Att location for suggestions for bespoke rules for playing here! This isn’t a complex Quest, you’ll be fighting for control over the Gaping Portal again. Be sure to make it clear who you’re fighting for, who you faced off against in your game(s), and what the result of the game(s) were. If you are a survivor of the massacre on the river, and are looking to move towards the Dell, rather than fight for the Gate, be sure to comment on this Quest instead.

- The Weaver -

The battle on the river Att, up near Furyoth Dell, devolved into absolute chaos when the continent itself reared up against invader and defender alike. While many, if not most, or the warriors in the area perished, a few managed to cling to life and have washed up beaten and broken within a forest that seeks to eat them alive – literally.

These survivors, need to decide on where to go next. Some will travel to the Furyoth Dell, understanding that the fight seems to be converging in on that area. That said, many have since got wind of a new convergence, either through the use of scouts, because they rode the river downstream further than most, or via simple instinct. The Gaping Portal is yet again being eyed by the various factions of Rondhol as a strategic point of contest.

Although currently held by Da Choppas and their Sylvaneth allies, the gate is far from safe. Many of the Seraphon from the Xarlanth are on the move, and converging on the gate, though to what end no one knows.

Both Blackmaw and Ka-rokk have made it clear to their followers that although they need to make headway into the Dell at some point, loss of this strategic focal point would be unacceptable.

Rewards

Sometimes a Quest creator will tell you what you get for completing the Quest, depending of the outcome of course. If there is nothing, you can obviously create your own rewards, ahhh… imagine the possibilities…

You’re either fighting over control of the Gaping Portal, or your attempting to survive the Rondholian wilderness. Additionally, depending on your faction, your reward will be different. Khardhir (including the Vermillios family) isn’t keen to lose this strategic space, but ultimately still have less “boots on the ground”. Da Choppas already have control over the gate and it’s immediate rivers, but and those under Blackmaw are looking to change that, preferring to drive the orruks away using any means necessary. Winning your games will get you that much closer to controlling the area. If you do not make it to either the Dell or here at the Gate, but instead find yourself surviving the wilderness, many ancient treasures can be found in the area, not to mention significant loot left by those that perished on the river.

Though radically reduced in numbers by the ravages of Rondhol, the feral forest folk of the Brashbriar Brood are no less ferocious for it. They have dwelled in Ghur since before the Age of Chaos and are well-accustomed to the realm’s violent ways. They still love their homeland, and will fight for it to the bitter end, even if that end should be delivered by the great continent itself, rather than by the enemies they originally set out to oppose.

I’m not great at taking photos, so these took me a while to get right. As it turns out, using Agrax Earthshade for the shading on these dryads was perhaps not the best idea, as it’s made their bark oddly shiny. The glisten on the red around their talons and mouths was intended to be there, though, and I’m quite happy with how that part turned out. The idea is for it to look like fresh blood.

Anyways, this report is going towards helping the Wrathful Land (A.K.A. Da Choppas & Friends) maintain control of The Gaping Portal.

Gatherin’ Da Troops : The Great Weave

Razgor feels cornered and trapped with enemies at the gates. With no direction or hope, he seemingly gives up. That is until a faithful encounter reminds him of why he fights. He fights for the hunt. He riles up his boyz to face the enemy head on and either win, or die during the glorious hunt.

A branch nymph gathers up some of her sisters in the wake of the stampedes which cost the Waaagh! so many lives. Later, after regrouping at the Gaping Portal, she receives the greenwood scythe which Da Choppas were able to retrieve after the branchwych’s demise.

Whilst Razgor takes half the warclan to face the enemy head on, he sends his most trusted ally and friend, the troggoth known as Big ‘Un to deal with the seraphon artillery which has been plaguing the orruk warcamp.

Urgoth Skullsmasha’s lieutenant, the Ardboy Boss Durbok explores the wrecks along the river for more lost Orruks to join the fight, maybe some loot and, however unlikely, clues to the whereabouts and condition of Warchanter Dughoz.

Along the way, he and his band are attacked by nighthaunt. They manage to drive the vengeful ghosts away for now, and Durbok himself cleaves a Knight of Shrouds in two with his new Spookbusta Choppa, earning the name Durbok Shroudcleava.

Warcry game, victory to Ironjawz.
