The Furyoth Dell

A lost valley deep in Rondhol, hidden away for centuries by the jungle and the shifting mountains, it is now exposed and connected to the wider realms …

The Era of the Beast has come to the Mortal realms, and it has affected the Realm of Ghur more than any other. Tectonic plates and walking forests are quickly on the move, changing the shape of the realm and revealing locations and secrets hidden long ago. Furthermore, a series of anomalies have caused realmgates to re-route to new locations, and previously sealed realmgates have flared back to life. And in the aggressive continent of Rondhol, nestled between the Mountains of Maraz and a number of realmgates and other magical passages, is a valley that has been hidden for a long time, but no more.

The Furyoth Dell. Home to wild monsters and ruins from an ancient civilization from the Age of Myth. Hidden away for centuries by the jungle and the shifting mountains, it is now exposed and connected to the wider realms by a convergence of realmgates in this region, leading to all over the Mortal Realms… glitchy realmgates of all things, that can change destination without warning.
And voices are calling within dreams, whispers and glowing eyes peering from the gates, leading ambitious treasure seekers and would-be conquerors to travel and start making a claim to the valley.

A Lost Civilization

Nobody knows what was the civilization that lived here in the Age of Myth, only that it had been swallowed by the furious mountains of Rondhol centuries ago. They appear to have worshipped the Sigmar the Warrior and Savage Gorkamorka… but something more hides behind the symbolism. There are crumbling structures, traps, and curses. The place may appear undisturbed for now… but who knows what lurks within?

Many interests are turned to the Dell currently, in search of its treasures.

A Convergence of Realmgates

The realmgates spread all over the Dell are glitchy and not always stable, often changing destinations to different parts of the Realms. With the exception of the Gaping Portal and the Hartgulper Mawpath, the dozens of other gates dotting the valley’s length are smaller in size, making the movement of entire armies difficult, as well as easy to detect and respond to. For small warbands and squads of operatives, however, this is a perfect location to travel the realms, and launch operations to other locations.

Jewel Lake

This valley lake seemingly has a gleaming stone crystal at its centre, beckoning those ashore to swim to it.

Old Brass

This craggy volcanic range is home to an ancient fortification from the age of Chaos. A Chaos gate to the Blood Fields of Khorne was opened here long ago, pulsating a stream of violence into the minds of anyone in the vicinity.

The Lake of Despair

Ancient fortifications dot this high snowy peak, and the structures seem to be relatively intact compared to other places in the Dell.

The Sibilant Jungle

A dense tangle of wild gnashwood trees and shattered floating islands makes travel through this region rather difficult.

Goldswallow Pit

This sinkhole-filled bog is home to a gargantuan multi-headed worm beast who is rumoured to be guarding a glorious treasure. Recently she’s been eating well, as travellers have sought the loot she’s allegedly guarding.

The Shattered Temple

This region of the Dell is littered with floating metaliths and the remains of a shattered Temple of the Storm, its arches and stairways floating scattered among the platforms of stone.

The Crann Bethadh

A gigantic tree suffused with life magic rises from the centre of this dense jungle, with a runic pattern for yards around it, a clear mystic seal to those who understand it.

Temple of the Deep

These ruins are half buried into the mountainside, still affected by much of the tectonic upheavals that hit the Dell for all these past centuries.

Tower Hands Garden

Deep from the inside of the jungle rise two tall hand-shaped trees, like those of a verdant giant, hewn apparently by the hand of some godly power.

The Black Pits

In this deep high-canopy jungle, the ground gives way to large cavernous hollows underneath the roots, big enough to contain entire villages, the swampwater draining slowly into them and down dark paths down the earth.

Ironsalt Village

The ruins of a village, ringed in a channel lined in rock salt with iron inlaid into it. The kind used to lay a protective ward from daemons and Chaos corruption, but this one dug purposefully and made to last.

The Challenge Stone

At the edge of the Furyoth Dell there is an ancient stone that has remained at the surface even when the area was engulfed by the rivers and tectonic plates of Rondhol.

The Gardenwell

This miles-wide, ridge-rimmed basin is filled to the brim with all manner of exotic flora unseen elsewhere in the Dell.

Foresight Forest

Those that enter this forest of tangled dark trees find themselves compelled along its paths, guided by trails unseen, surprisingly taking them safely through to their destination.

The Castle of Silk

All across these jagged pinnacles and mountains are spread long sheets of webbing, some spreading across ravines many yards wide.

Warpstone Crag

A large vein of warpstone has jutted out of the earth here, in a quantity large enough to warp the surrounding vicinity. Crystals the size of a house. The power to harness unbelievable transmutation if one is willing to risk it.

The Shifting Monolith

When the Furyoth Dell was swallowed by Rondhol during the Age of Chaos, many arcane weapons of war were at that time deployed all over the Realms, of a craftsmanship not seen since. To conquer Rondhol, Archaon had once let loose a floating monolith of corrupting power, an all-destroying structure that consumes souls and gifts the powers of Chaos to the survivors.

First-Blood Rift

A great crevasse that legends say was the first strike of GorkaMorka’s mighty axe in the clash against Sigmar. Lost to the ages by the winding tectonic shifts of Rondhol.

Old Rationhouses

A number of ruined buildings hide in this section of the jungle. Tall, stone buildings jutting out at uneven angles, with stone ramps leading to apparent pits framed by a series of long rooms, and rust-stained holes in the interiors of the walls rimming the pit. Rich greenery grows within the walls and down the pits.

Locations Found within the Dell

Initially the exploration of the Dell was done by the players of the Revenge campaign. But there is still more to find out there so if you’d like to explore the Dell you can do so by completing the “Into the Dell” Quest found below.
