Sing with me a song of silence and bloodThe rain falls but can’t wash away the mudAgain within Drakengrad, an ominous song rang out as The Cult of The Fell Dragon surged throughout the land. As instructed by their Propheter, the cultists danced and sang, conjuring...
A Hybrid Event:
Beyond the Prime Innerlands of Shyish lies the region of Drakengrad. Once the home of great, draconic godbeasts, the great cataclysms of The Age of Chaos brought about their end. As the Age of Sigmar progresses, the Free City of Drakheim weathered staunchly the aftershocks of the Necroquake, but as the Era of Beasts descends, malefactors hiding amongst the bones of slain godbeasts seek the powers of Ghur to bring about the end of all…
Curse of the Fell Dragon is a Path to Glory campaign taking place from May 10th to June 20th at Stormcrow Games in Lubbock, TX. Players will align themselves with either the defenders of Drakheim or the insidious Cult of the Fell Dragon to decide, through their ongoing battles, the fate of this forgotten underworld.
A note on Hybrid Events:
“Hybrid Events” are unique to the Great Weave, they are local events (meaning that people primarily gather around in a group, usually a FLGS, to play through the event), but they also invite players Weave-wide to play along from their own geographical locations, usually through participating in Quests.
Throughout the Age of Sigmar, the region of Drakengrad has seen the reemergence of long-hidden original inhabitants, united against the Free City of Drakheim under the banner of The Cult of The Fell Dragon. Where during the Soul Wars, these two forces made small incursions into the other’s territory in pursuit of knowledge, conflict and unwillingness to compromise have heated tensions to near its boiling point.
While forces mortal and Stormcast scour the Realms in search of a weapon which might spare them the wrath of the vengeful Fell Dragon, the Cult now seeks to amass the last resources it needs to summon forth an avatar of their god from their stores of Ghurish amberstone.
Into this tumult, your armies armies walk. From here, the tides of fate will be controlled by your actions. Will Drakengrad be spared destruction or razed by the curse of The Fell Dragon?
Curse of the Fell Dragon‘s narrative will develop week-by-week in response to players engaging with and completing Campaign Quests. As the campaign continues, this section will update with relevant instructions for upcoming weeks, as well as a summary of what’s happened in the story.
May 10th - May 16th
- Bring a Warband (1000pt) army, prepare your Path to Glory roster with the aid of the event organizer, introduce your army and characters to other players, receive the pleas for aid from each side in the conflict, and choose who you will aid in the war for Drakengrad!
May 17th - May 23rd
- The war for Drakengrad opens properly as the forces of The Cult of The Fell Dragon and the defenders of Drakheim compete to secure amberstone smuggled from Ghur.
May 24th - May 30th
- While the Cult of The Fell Dragon managed to escape with some of the amberstone, it will not be enough to achieve their ends. In a rage and in an attempt to claim more of the valuable realmstone, the Cult and their allies now attack Drakheim en force.
May 31st - June 6th
- The Battle of Drakheim has concluded, but both sides have suffered grave setbacks. The Cult of The Fell Dragon searches for new means to resurrect their dread patron, while the defenders of Drakheim rebuild after the destructive battle. However, an interloper has become known to lurk within Drakengrad, but where and who they might be and what their goals are remain unknown.
- Battles this week will be played using Open Play Battleplans, either generated using the Core Rules or Seasons of War: Thondia.
June 7th - June 13th
- What brief calm within Drakengrad has dispersed, leaving The Cult of The Fell Dragon and Drakheim poised for more conflict. The Cult has found a new means of resurrecting their dead god, but the interloper is still at large, known now to the whole region.
- Battles this week will be played using specific Battleplans from the Core Rules Path to Glory Battlepack. Please consult your selected Campaign Quest to learn which Battleplan you will be playing.
June 26th
- Drakengrad hovers at the edge of ruin for all. A massive shadowy dragon has been summoned by the interloper’s corrupted ritual. All are called upon to fight against the otherworldly monster for their own sakes and that of all of Drakengrad.
- All players in the area are encouraged to come to Stormcrow Games in Lubbock, TX on June 26th from 1-5PM CST to participate in a Gathering of Might game to decide the fate of Drakengrad!
1) If you’re in the area, let the Event Organizer (Keza#2929 on Discord) know you’re interested.
2) Check out the lore for the campaign and create a character of your own. (You can even host that character here on The Weave to participate in other events.)
3) If you’re playing live in the local campaign, prepare a Path to Glory roster starting at 1000pts. You can still do this if you’re participating online, too, and The Weave even has a tool for creating a Path to Glory roster.
4) Choose your side in the conflict, and review the Campaign Quests available for the current week of the campaign.
5) Play a Narrative Play Battleplan either from the Core Book or your army’s Battletome if you fulfill the requirements. Note that certain weeks of the campaign or specific Campaign Quests might recommend specific Battelplans from outside sources (i.e. Seasons of War: Thondia or adapted versions of Battleplans from 2E supplements). Resources for said recommended Battleplans will be provided at players’ request by the Event Organizer.
6) Post a short, narrative summary of the game played in the Comments section of the corresponding Quest page, or notify the Event Organizer. If participating online, provide a link to any narrative, battle reports, photo(s), etc. detailing your participation in the Campaign Quest in the Comments section of the corresponding Quest page.
7) Optionally, you may submit a written narrative post or other form of storytelling if you are unable to play a game during a week of the campaign. Send materials to the Event Organizer or post a link in the Comments section of the relevant Campaign Quest. You are encouraged to written narratives, draw pictures, or take stylish photos of your battles in addition to playing your game for the week!
As always, the most important part is to have fun and be cooperative in creating this story together!
