Fallen from Grace

Nov 6, 2022

The Weaver

The jungle burns as Khardron airships raze the fauna from around the prime-metalith of Khardhir – a city fallen from grace. As the billowing black fumes rise into the evening air, it surges around the fleet of airships that hang above the city – a fleet that, although guarding the city, also keeps its distance in this eye-for-an-eye realm. For Khardhir is more prey than predator now.

Khardhir has sunk.

As can be expected, within the city itself, pandemonium now reigns supreme. Residents who expect to stay in the city are constantly on the move, preparing arcane enchantments, forging weaponry, setting up barricades where there was once only food stalls. Essentially, readying themselves for something that they’ve never needed to worry about before but which seems inevitable now – an attack on the ground.

Within the halls of the Council the upheaval felt within the city has come to a head as well – as powerful individuals seek to find out exactly what was done to cause the decent, and who to blame. Navra ven Alcassar, the Headmistress of the College of Engineers currently leads a coalition of members against the Navigators Guild and, to only a slightly lesser extent, the House of Vermillio. Navra claims that only a combined effort by multiple powerful members could have sunk the city, literally overnight, and asserts that Melchad Hawkcaller, the Guildmaster of the Navigators Guild, with help from the Vermillio Family, are the most likely candidates. Obviously, the Guild and the Vermillio Family deny all involvement. Ideas of what to do next run rampant both in the Council and throughout the city. Some claim that this is the will of Sigmar, that this has occurred in retribution for the fact that the city knowingly harbored the Soulblight – and that they should simply stay where they’ve landed. Others claim that there are ways to lift the city again, possibly with the use of the Xarlantian ruins. Everyone agrees that if there is Aqua Gyranis to be made, then the city should at least take advantage of her current situation. And so, the city looks out over its walls and into the lands below – into the Furyoth Dell.

Further East Sorrah Nikos, the current overlord of Civilia’s Ruin, is also eyeing the Dell. Nikos has used the fog-shrouded town as the ultimate laboratory, a place where she is free to collect and experiment on as many “test subjects” as possible. Protected, at least in part, by a massive voidship shield that she has repurposed to cover a portion of the town, she now has enough protection and allies that she can comfortably send out warbands to do her bidding. Specifically, rumours have now been heard throughout the land that she has her eye on a specific resource found there, some sort of Amber Blood, but to what end no one knows.

And yet, Civilia’s Ruin and Khardhir are not the only ones looking towards the Dell, for it has been calling for some time now. Throughout Ghur whispers of a long-hidden land, recently revealed, and full of forgotten treasures have been heard. Heroes and their followers have arrived in this mysterious land, often, by sheer accident – as a series of anomalies have caused realmgates to re-route to new locations, including the Dell. The arrival of Khardhir (and thus also the arrival of her foes) to Rondhol only increased the amount of adventurers, treasure seekers, and warbands entering. Either drawn in by stories of riches, in pursuit of enemies that have fled to the area, or simply because of the machinations of fate – these warbands now find themselves pushing further and further into this long-lost land. Now, greenskins brawl and howl within the Dell’s hills, pirates flying Blackmaw’s colours sweep along its rivers, and Dawnbringers attempt to survive just one more night in jungles that wish to tear them apart – while dark eyes stare out of nightmares to stalk their prey.

The Sealed Mountain is a massive fortress built into the tallest spire of rock in a range of mountains that appear as monstrous teeth. Surrounded by a network of swamps and bogland, its isolation is part of its defenses. Only recently rediscovered by Sigmar’s forces...
